View Full Version : My name is Pravus...and I have a problem with BG rage

That's right...I have a problem. And admitting it is the first step to recovery, haha. I'm not the worst out there...but I'm definitely not where I want to be. I run AB, mostly. And while, I'm very courteous and congenial when things are going well...I get mad when things are going badly. I don't get mad at the fact that we're losing...just at bad advise given or actions taken while it's happening. For Instance...
Keep in mind, I'ms aying this, and I'm in no way proud of my behavior...but I figured some of you might have insights or helpful hints.
I was running AB tonight. We were an underpowered crew...many 34 and 35's...and many times, that's a sign of some newcomers. You can also spot these by their tendency to just follow someone in front of them. Well...we had the farm and LM...Alliance had other 3 nodes. We were down 1100 to 1250 or so. The same group of about 10 horde players had been fighting unsuccessfully on the bridge between farm and BS for a good 4 or 5 minutes. I had been telling them that since the allies had 10 people there, we should capture other nodes. This advise was unheeded. And I say something to the effect of "You're being retarded. You guys are going to make us lose."
Soon after...one of them says, "f BS...let's kick some ass at stables." So...the zerg continues on to stables. Same guy says "everyone to stables!". I say, "(character name), dont' give advise." Yet...they run to stables...where they fail...and we lose the farm to boot. Someone in the chat, who had been trying to help me take some of the other nodes while the zerg was at BS says, "how in the world do we lose AB?" And I respond with "because idiots zerg stables, and leave our only other nodes unprotected." I then get rants by 3 different people telling me to shutup, yadda, yadda. This is when I realized I wasn't handling it well, haha
So...for those of you with a lack of patience...how do you deal with your frustration? Is it a matter of just sucking it up, and letting the loss happen?
its simple for me... I no longer PvP...
The aspect of PvP is quite enjoyable to me, I enjoy when you test your skills 1 vs 1 against the alliance, but the whole WoW PvP system annoys me for 2 reasons:
1: Battlegrounds are not always sorted fairly, and farm teams take all fun out of the game because you are just a target dummy for the 10 guys that group together and work as a team
2: As you said above, you have to work with retards. You try to give instruction, nobody listens, you tell them they are stupid for not listening and that is why they lost, and all of a sudden they heard you and wanna whine at you.
I would just much rather get my keys for Heroics / Kara and gear decent gear the more reliable way

To the OP, BG rage is a common thing. Get in a good group and steamroll stuff

not only is it common, but it crosses faction lines. Alliance have the same issues.

well with some of those pugs out there its understandable.
ive seen many a horde team go from having 4 towers in EOTS to a complete reverse due to them camping a graveyard and not responding when some enterprising alliance get past and ninja the unprotected towers.
have to say though, its not as bad as it was in WOW when you had a lot of bored no skill raiders(no i dont mean all raiders are skill less, i mean the ones who had no skill i.e were being kept up in raids by better players)join the BGs cos they could get "free" epics.
suddenly you had 1000s of morons who didnt have a clue how to fight.
now that they have gone back to pveing we are just left with the no skill pvpers:laughing:

Best way to deal with an AB team like the 1 described in the OP:
Leave.
If you don't want to be flagged as a Deserter (Although I got no idea why you'd want to avoid that, not like you'll be missing out on anything):
Steal every single one of their Killing Blows.
You see, players like this aren't there for the marks (if they were they'd try to win it fast rather than loose it slowly), nor are they there for the honor or HKs (they'd get more of those if going fully defensive), the only reason they PvP is: To boost their egos by getting on top of Killing Blows.
When you then take away those, they get mad, stop playing BGs when you're around, possibly even stop PvPing, and you're left with the ones who do know how to play.

So...so far, none of you have said my reaction was uncalled for, haha. But, i do believe it is. I think it's a problem that I'm so competitive when it comes to the BG's. I hate to lose. Starting, my AB record was about 48-1. It's since gone to about 182-16, or so. Needless to say, these past 100 AB's don't reflect the 95% win percentage horde is supposed to get in AB. Anyway, I think I'll just be the silent killer. People seem to respond better that way. Maybe, eventually, my name will get out there, and people will learn to respect my opinion. Until then, I'll put in my time as a Damage-dealing peon.

well i dont say your reaction is uncalled for mainly due to being used to leaders of the premades ive been part of being like that when something goes wrong.

i like the "rage" that comes from bg's you get a real feeling of the game, anger should be a part of faction vs faction combat dontya think :P, i like losing from time to time becuause you get that lust for revenge and when you kill that rogue that keeps stunlocking you you feel sooooo good. wooo i wanna pvp right now, who needs school
Luckily, I run our premade group, so no idiots for me!
Sadly, that also means that if we do lose, it's my fault.

When I ran AB, back in the day, this was my trade chat spam - "LFM AB Need (insert classes) Full on (insert classes), must have vent and the ability to follow directions PST"
If you have people that are AFK'ing, or simply just not listening, boot them. Someone giving you grief because they actually have to listen? Boot them. It may sound mean, but it separates the winning team from the losing team.
Now, I've had my fair share of BG rage (basically whenever I go into WSG, I HATE that place...too many idiots who dont wanna win). I yell. I scream. I go on a cussing rant. But after the rage goes away, I think - If these people are THIS stupid, they either have to be 1- 7 yrs old (no offense to the younger players), 2 - noobs, and/or 3 - brain dead retards.
There are times when you'll win, and times you'll lose, no doubt about that. And when that certain rogue comes and stunlocks you, or that warlock fears you and dots you to hell and back, think of the nasiest way you can take revenge on them. Coming out of the water in front of stables, and charging them, stealthing and 3 shotting them, w/e your class has available, do it. Pop all your cooldowns. And if they still win, try it again.
And I'm glad that I'm not the only one that experiences BG rage

I suffer from severe road rage. But I do not suffer from BG rage. People who start screaming "retards" or some variation there of in BG chat will piss me off though.
Being negative is the fastest way to get people to ignore what you are saying.
