PVP Gear Questions.

I'll be the first to admit that i'm newer to the game. I have a whole bunch of lower level chars, and now that i'm getting to higher levels i'm begining to be concerned with pvp. I'm a level 42 Dreanei shaman, and i was wondering if PVP at this level is worth it for the gear? or should i just pvp and save my honor points, and badges for a higher level sense i intend on getting to 70. Also is their any gear better than PVP earned gear?
I'm not really sure how honor works? Do you get more honor the higher level you get? and the higher the level the oponent is that you kill? Please all input is apprieciated.

If you are serious about planning to do pvp mostly once you hit 70, then save up every honor point and mark that you get. You get honor by killing players in BG's (warsong gulch, eye of the storm, alterac valley, and arathi basin) and in world pvp. Also you gain most of you honor from completing objectives within those BG's, like returning flags in warsong or capping towers in Alterac valley.

You can visit the knights hall in Stormwind to see what gear you want to aim for. Aside from pvp gear that is bought with honor there is pvp gear from the Arenas which is hands down the best pvp gear in the game. Also there is some nice pvp gear you can get from tradeskills and pvp objective quests in Halaa and Terokar Forest.

But right now save everything and do some research of your own on certain other sites and see what you want to aim for in terms of gear. Knowing about all the different options available to you will save you alot of time as honor takes time to build up and you want to use it efficiently.

yup save it up, will give you a big boost if when you hit 70 you can buy some of the armour/weapons trinkets etc right away.

I disagree with Serrat and Inferna. If you do participate in PvP now at level 42, if you happen to gather 20 marks of honor and the according honor, you should spend it now.

In the level 40's you won't earn much honor at all. The little honor you do get is enough to buy some very good blues from WSG/AB rep vendors. These blues are usually upgrades and will last you a good ten levels.

Once you hit level 70, you can get honor at a much, much higher rate/hr. The same honor you can get in one AV game at 70 is equivalent to dozens of games worth of honor from level 40's WSG/AB. So if you do PvP now, spend it and get good upgrades that'll help you level. Do not save it up.

That was one of my main concerns. Is honor at level 50-59, 60-69, and 70 easier and faster to obtain than honor between 40-49? And if it is easier to gain, how much easier are we talking here? B/c if it is much easier to gain honor as the higher you go through the levels, it seems kind of dumb for me not to spend some honor points now to better suit myself with gear, and save me some gold buying it. But i can completely understand why when you hit 70 or even 60 (sense i have checked what the merchants have to offer) why you would want a considerable amount of honor saved up to purchase some of that awesome gear.

I also was unaware that you get honor from completeing an objective in a battle ground. I usually do Arathi Basin as of now, so if I capture, or contest a territory, will i gain honor from that?

Also in your personal opinions, what is the best Battle ground for me as a now 43 dreanei shaman to participate in?

To your first question - Yes, honor gain at higher levels is considerably more. If you killed a hordie the same level as you right now, it would not give as much honor if you had done it at level 70.

Second Question - We're talking about 20 honor per kill, if you can solo people at level 70. Spend your honor as you get it, unless its not as good as your current gear, of course.

Third - In AB, you get honor every certain amount of resources you pick up, so technically, yes, you do get honor from capturing a node. But - you do not get instant honor from it, unlike in Warsong Gulch, if your team were to capture a flag, you would get honor right then and there.

Personally, I dont think PvP'ing at level 43 is a smart idea. There are still many levels to gain until before you're level 70. IMO, PvP is best at 70, because everyone is the same level and the only thing that tips a fight is gear and skill, not the level difference.
