I think it really matters on preference, your specc, and how well you use it.
Some people like to play rogues with PvP, some like their warlocks, it's really based on how well you play your class, if you use your class correctly, and if you know how to PvP in general =)

Hard question to answer.
Every class can be the best or the worst. It all depends on how you play it.
All three of the choices you listed can be very powerfull in PvP if played and specced well. But so can all the other choices not listed.

Pallys! *dodges*
Whatever you know well in fact. In my few attemps at WSG 10-19, my Rogue got consistently wacked by the same BE Hunter. In my poor little brain, I thought Hunters were huge, and rolled a NE Hunter (STOP LAUGHING!)
Dressed him decently, went for WSG... Got pwned harder. Blinked twice. Pulled my rogue out again. Pure Horde ownage. Shrugged, admitted Hunters were going to be my black sheep in 10-19 WSG, and played appropriatly.
Damn I enjoyed that first 1v1 victory on that BE! In other words, knowledge > class

There is no best class for PvP. All classes have the potential to be of use. There are classes which have are "best" for a particular facet of pvp, and even then the class which is "best" for a particular assignment is highly debatable.
And to Daidoji, Paladins are very strong in PvP if you know how to play your class and are not underpowered. The sheer survivability of a paladin is not to be discounted. The main downside to paladins can be their dps, which is made up for by spamming spells and thusly running out of mana quickly. An out of mana paladin is (usually) a dead paladin.
The great secret to being good at PvP is teamwork.

What kind of pvp are you talking about? 1 on 1 world pvp? Battleground? Arena? Mages are great in a team, but I wouldn't recommend them for occasional world pvp when you are out questing .

Depends on:
- Your playing style
- Which bracket you want to PvP in
- How much time you're willing to devote to getting better gear

All true, except, imo, a good player can play them all and adapt his own playstyle. Additionally, the OP needs to decide what type of pvp he's aiming for.
Are you going to try to field a lvl 70 5v5?
Do you want to mainly be able to solo and small group in BGs?
In arena, for starters, forget about Priests. Semi-usefull in 2v2 or 3v3, forget about em in 5v5, just a class with too many issues.
Paladins, Mages, and Warriors get better and better in team play with good people on your side, preferably pre-mades. They can each be fairly frustrating wandering out solo into a BG and trying to pwn.
Rogues, Hunters, Shammies are pretty solid solo players, but lose luster in arena groups, but then turn around and tend to steam-roll pretty well in large batches in BGs.
1-2 Druids isn't ever a bad thing, but hardly game-defining in either case.
Priests just suck in pvp now. And my main was a Priest with 8k kills before Tbc came out (and not even 60 then). IMO, the expansion ruined the class.

druids arent necessarily BEST for PvP but wanted and I personally think that a class that can either survive forever or do incredible burst damage are best. Anywhere in between and your goin to have to be in a group constantly and independence can help determine "bestness" but like everyone says it depends how you play your character. shamans used to be great but got nerfed and well...they got pretty cool totems at least. but some can do really well in fact i saw one own in WSG the other day and also im a mage and we were competing in that one to be best in kills and he always had that head up on me and neither of us should be owning like no tomoorow in kills. So, luck and skill, those are the keys for the most part

The most powerful classes for Arena PVP are Mage, Warrior and Paladin.
Of those, mages (Frost) are also quite viable in PUG Battlegrounds.

no, no, no...
Warlocks!
I've had enough of all this "which bracket", "depends how you play it," crap!
warlocks are un matched for 1v1 or group pvp... seduction and spell lock, voidwalker sacrifice, life tap, instant casts, healthstones! soulstones! fear!
the only class a good lock will have trouble with is...ANOTHER LOCK!
