Hello!
Im new here so hello @ all !
Im a young happy pally who can beat warriors rogues and some pallys 5 lvl higher then him but always when i fight hunter i got my probz.
What I do....
Seal Of Crusader
Judgement
Seal Of Command
Judgement
Keeps going like that
if she wants to bind me I do blessing of freedom, at some time I stun her and judge with commander to do addional damage.
obviously this must be all wrong.
she runs around and even with my +8% speed bonus its quite difficult to kill her. Her pet isnt that strong but annoys as it is the only thing that attacks me.
I thought about using seal of light to get for every hit hp back but i dont think it will help me survive.
so.. who can help me :S

As a warrior, paladins annoy me for two things. They do not die, and they drop a hammer which i have no clue wtf is, on top of my head which stuns me. I dont know for how long but feels like an eternity.
Do these two.
In addition spec retribution/holy, get huge 2 hander, and when you drop that stunning hammer on the head of the poor hunter, go get a few lucky crits.
Drop other hammers from distance that does some more burst damage.
Survive until you get your cooldowns back.
Rinse and repeat.
Ignore the pet, and you should be fine.

that got me an idea thanks. but surviving is difficult if she keeps hitting me with arrows. the other point is the "hammer" has a 1min CD.
im retro btw.
and she always binds me. and my blessing of freedom only protects me 10sec and has god knows how muh CD.
i need something to keep her going.

Yeah I have no clue about details of paladin abilities, just told what they are doing to me
Maybe I was sort of venting instead of advising

Tip: Carry a few speed potions with you at all time. It will give you the needed speed boost to catch up with him/her (especially after stopping to cast a heal). At some stage you get a nifty stopwatch as well, for an extra speed boost.
It’s pretty difficult to give advice without knowing your spec/level. A hunter who knows how to kite is pretty hard to beat (for anyone), but you should be able to keep yourself alive for a rather long time. Eventually the hunter would pick up adds, and combined with your damage get killed (maybe a bit of a coward strategy, but so is running away :)).
Keep your health up, blessing of freedom when slowed, watch out for traps (the hunter will bend down), ignore the pet (as Arthengel said), cleanse when you get a viper sting on you, hammer of justice as soon as it becomes available (good idea to heal yourself then as well).

Pally's are the most difficult class for hunters. Mail+BOF+heals = long time to kill. Hunters should absolutely not be able to kite you. I think BOF is on a 15 sec cd so it's 5 secs w/o BOF. Keep it on and in melee range. You can do much more damage than he can. If he wants to try and kite you can heal and drain him of mana. Once OOM he has nothing to do but stand and shoot.

BOF is 10 sec, with a 20 second cooldown (unless specced to increase it). When a paladin stops to heal himself, it gives the hunter 2.5 seconds to switch on cheetah, and get some distance between you and him (and since we don't really have ranged attacks at lower levels, we can't stun him).
A hunter should be more than able to kite a paladin half way across the world before s/he gets in range (while the pet slowly chews away at you).

actually, a MM hunter with scatter shot should be able to kite you MOST of the time. He just has to be good at keeping his spacing. BoF DOES have a cooldown, and can't resist either scatter or freezing trap.
It's goign to be a long fight...if the hunter knows what he's doing, he'll at least try to viper sting you to drain your mana. Be prepared to immediately purify it. Secondly...Throw your HoJ as soon as you can. The earlier you throw it, the better the possibility that you'll get an extra cooldown. Lastly, if you have it available, use a bubble just to cure the distance. While bubbled, we can't scatter or freezing trap...nor can we concussive shot. if you have any movement bonus items, and the hunter is off his game (and not shifting into AotC on time), you'll be able to make up some necessary ground. Consider using the bubble right after the hunter recovers from your first HoJ. He'll be in range to continue melee, already, and all his cooldowns will be up. He will DEFINITELY try to scatter/freeze trap.
It won't be easy to kill the hunter. But, it is possible.

This is kinda a joke, I can pretty much kite a paladin and never get hit. Paladins are the only class I feel safe running around with aspect of the cheta on.

None of them have a Bow/Throwing weapon equipped?
Failing that, if you really want to pvp at the low levels, where Hunters can be a bit bull****, you need to be engineering. Chuck the cheapest damaging attack you have at em (grenades, I mean, or Net if you have them, hehe) when you know they're in Cheetah and you got yourself a free Daze and plenty of chance to catch up.
Make sure your boots have a speed buff on them (AB boots, or speed enchant w/e regular boots you're using. It's possible to keep Gnomish on a switch bind if you want. Keep BoF on a keybind so you're not trying to click it and losing 1s or so that way.
Free Action pots are easy to fish for if you have alchemy (or one of your alt does, w/e), and good flag-running Paladins use this a lot, I've noticed. If you're going to use Sprint pots instead, just make sure to time BoF right.
As far as Hunter kiting goes, it is a bit ridiculous atm. They're always trying to kite my semi-twink rogue. I love the dumb ones who use Aspect against me, my lawn-darts do a great job keeping me in range. The annoying ones are the ones who just rotate Conc shot and traps, but still, Rogues have an easier time of it if CDs are up.
Another tactic is to simply run away, if you think the Hunter will chase you. With the ridiculously no-skill way traps work these days, they're very good defensive-kiters, but pretty much suck offensively if you're able to stay out of range and out-heal their damage. They can't really run and put out great damage, but they do have superior range and movement abilities, so this can be tricky and situational. For you, as a Pally, to successfully pull them into a trap would cost the same amount of time/consumeables as going all offensive, so I'd just go "O", if I were you.
Lastly, though I know you said you're specced Ret, keep in mind you're an OP support character and he's an OP damage character. You should be running around with company the whole time, and so should they.
All in all, Hunters and Pallies are some of the most OP classes in the game, right now, so you guys pretty much deserve each other. Not so much, Pallies, after the patch, though.

Paladins are kindof the fresh meat HKs of hunters. Not that we're overpowered from hell or anything, if anything the paladin has way too much OP, but paladins do two things that make them easy targets vs. hunters.
1) They bubble
2) They Flash of Light
You do either of those things mid battle and I'll own you. Not gonna reveal why or how, but what you need to concentrate on is knowing the builds and their weaknesses.
BM - kill the pet. Kill hunter after
MM - close your distance with them immediately, ignore the pet. Concentrate on controlling the range and preventing them from getting too far away.

I guess it would help to know what level you're at and what lvl hunters give you trouble. At 19 I go OOM during fights with them, 29 about the same tho I have frost trap, Scatter shot comes later so it all matters where in you're talents you're at.
Hiya guys, i was just browsing away and noticed this thread so i registered to say, unless im missing something (not unheard of )
Judge Seal of Justice ... this now impairs targets movement speed
This coupled with liberal use of BoF, Divine Shield, cleanse, Hammer of justice you should at least make him sweat if not take the kill (havent played my palla for ages tho so not sure on how much the seal of justice actually slows but its gotta be the key to this match up)
(and even BoP to close the distance, can still judge him for damage or use a cancel aura macro when close if u have written it)
oh and Hi all
my first post /blush
