I thought it might be interesting to try PvP. I've always rolled on Normal realm - but I thought it might be fun to start an alt on a PvP realm. Thing is, I don't know what to look for (should I go low pop so there's less ganking?), and what sort of characters to play with. Since I've gone PvE always, I've never had to worry about PvP at all; so I'm new to it.

i just started a dwarf preist on a pvp server.....for the same reason. Well i got bored with not being able to find people to pvp with, plus i think it will make everything much more interesting. So...shadow priest for the win hopefully. However i have to say im 25 questing in the wetlands and i have been killed only once by a 36 bloodelf rogue....and that is pretty much the only horde ive seen so far. I guess it wont be too much longer till darkshire, arathi, and then stv which i hear is when the pain starts.

Join a high pop server!

There's more people to die from (as you will probably start dying first as you get used to it)

But when you turn around, theres MORE people to KILL to!

Low pop servers aren't that fun for much of anything at all. =x

One thing you will notice different on PvP servers is that people eat/drink in mob corpse. So beware of other people inside dead corpse, and it's also a great tip for you to do the same. Gives you one more piece of protection vs. the opposite faction.

I've enjoyed my low-pop server (except that it is primarily horde and I am alliance). I mostly PVE but enjoy the occasional PVP skirmish with like-leveled horde. So when I feel like pvp I go to wetlands or arathi and occasionally STV (though STV is annoying with all the high-levels). But when I just want to level in PVE most of the other areas won't be crowded so I can level in peace. The times you will hate PVP is when ??'s gank you and camp you, or when a group of opposite faction toons gank you. That is less likely to happen on a low-pop server. Now if you are the type to travel in a group all the time, high-pop might be more fun.

Kinjal - Can you tell me more about the eat/drink in mob corpse idea? I've never heard or seen this happen. How does it protect you?

Karazhan EU is fun. Horde outnumber us 3 to 1.

I have a lot of HKs.

Wetlands has about zero pvp. When you get to Arathi is when some decent pvp starts, around the ogre mound is a good spot as is the castle with the first aid book (forget the name). After Arathi Hillsbrad foothills is great but you will be ganked repeatedly. STV is the ultimate pvp zone. You will get the stare.

Good luck and remember, paranoia is a good thing :)

At the minute, 7. I just made a new warlock a few days back, and lately haven't had any time to play him.

I had a warrior in the high 40s on there earlier though, the atmosphere is good and theres loads of Blood Elves to kill.

Literally, there are more blood elves on karazhan than there are alliance.

If you position yourself over a corpse that is large enough, it will hide you as you eat/drink. I think that is what he meant.

Hehe...not saying it would work...just explaining what he meant. But true...your name will still show up, and you can still be easily tab-targetted.

Depends upon what the mob is. An elder clefthoof in nagrand works very well at hiding you for casual observation, people would need to get within tab targetting range (or be using "track humanoids) to be any the wiser. A dead squirrel might be less ideal as cover :)
