Are hunters good at PVE and PVE?

I have a lvl 12 night elf hunter and really don't know whether to carry on with it or not. I am not showing off but I think I understand the hunter class alot, and with my pet, have been able to kill several lvl 19's. I am going to PVP and PVE alot, and am wondering if hunter are good for both.

Btw, I know this sounds silly, but what does PVE actually mean?? :afro:

player vs environment.... hunters are just like every class....in the hands of a good player that understands their class, they are deadly in everything they do...in the hands of a novice, they may be crushed easily.

as a lvl 12, are you talking about taking down lvl 19 players? or lvl 19 mobs? if you are taking lvl 19 players, what class are they? that has an impact on how well you can take one...id go ahead and say a lvl 19 rogue would destroy you if they got a jump on you, and a lvl 19 hunter would just laugh at you as his pet tore away at your flesh

Hunters are good for both at least up to lvl 40, and I'd venture to say that you don't have to understand the class a whole lot to kill mob's several levels higher than you. Especially at level 12 when its primarily; tell pet to attack, fire arrows, occasionally do something else. Haven't played anything higher to know how they fare in the upper-levels though.
