A Question on Honor

Hey Guys,

So I read somewhere the other day (cant recall, was at work) that after you gain Honored with Honor Hold and Cenarion Exp that you cannot get any more rep with them?

I did not realise this until after I gained honored with both... By completing all the quests without doing the dungeons first....

Is there a way to reach revered with either after doing this?

i believe you get honor points in some of the instances...i know you can get revered with them...so id assume so at least


i know people get honor points with horde in shattered halls, and hellfire heroics...so im assuming that heroics you would get honor points with honor hold....plus i think regular shattered halls gives honor points...


with all that said...blood furnace probably does it as well

It's easier to get to Honored from doing instances first- then doing the quests, but since you've already done the quests, that's not an option.

Yes, you can still gain rep with them, it will just take a little while longer. Basically- learn to enjoy Shattered Halls and Steam Vaults as you'll be doing each of them a lot (Shattered for HP - Steam Vaults for CE).

Yeah the only way to get past honored is doing quests and Shattered Halls/Heroics (or Steamvaults/Heroics for CE). Now I did notice that I did get a little bit of rep for doing an underbog run... didn't happen to notice what gave it to me. I have a mod which switches my rep bar to the last rep I got, and part of the way through the instance I noticed it was on CE. I think I got like 500rep for the run, so it isn't really worthwhile.

There are a couple quests for the different instances... 3 for Shattered Halls (Don't miss the one from the reagent dealer) and one for steamvaults.

Oh and somewhere within your first steamvaults run you'll get a quest item drop called Orders from Lady Vashj. This will allow you to turn in Coilfang Armaments. These are white (i.e. not rolled on) drops in the instances. The first turnin is like 300rep and they're 75rep after that. They're not BoP, so you can buy them off the AH if they're up... but at 75rep a pop, you'd need to buy a metric crapton to get any significant rep.

I personally hate Steamvaults... why oh why did blizz have to add the most droolworthy druid tanking staff as a exalted reward... damn you blizz!

A few guildies and I did the same thing - and are trying to raise rep for rewards / keys / etc.

We found that with the Rogue unlocking the Heroic instance in Hellfire - 3 of us (all DPS) can run in kill all the way to first 5-6 mob pull and we turn around run back and reset instance - back in - do it for about an hour or so a day b/c it gets old - we often have issues finding a healer or tank (or we'd run the whole thing) - seems pretty fast - and it seems that we do get more rep then doing the friggin towers over and over.

I won't make this mistake with the next character =)

Are there any other tips for other factions and gaining honor that I should know about?

I've pretty much completed all the Terrakor Forest (Alerian Stronghold Quests) and havn't begun the Scyer quests yet so am holding off on doing any further quests so I dont have this problem with every single faction.

Do I have to gain revered with every single faction I come across to ensure I dont have to muck around doing menail tasks for minimal returns? Can I get away with halfway to exalted with HH and CE?

I am level 65, Alliance Side, have yet to head to Nagrand and Blade's Edge Mountains.

HFC instances for HH rep until honored, then shattered halls to revered, heroic cfr or normal shattered halls until exalted.

Mana tombs for consortium rep until honored, then heroic mana tombs to exalted.

Shadow Labs for Lower city rep all the way to exalted.

Slave pens/underbog for CE rep until honored, then some mobs/bosses in underbog will still give rep until about 1/2way through honored. Then it is time for the steamvaults until exalted. Or once revered and you have access to heroics any cfr instance on heroic gives ce rep.

Tempest keep instances will give you rep until exalted with shat'tar. Turning in rep items for aldor and scryer will also give you shat'tar rep but you won't see it go across your screen. It is a little known fact, but if you get to exalted with scryer/aldor you'll amost automatically get honored with shat'tar...i read that somewhere and seems to be the case.

Honor Hold 2799/12000 Honored
The Consortium 1158/3000 Neutral

Lower City 500/3000 Neutral
The Scryers 510/6000 Friendly
The Sha'tar 1765/3000 Neutral

From Wiki:
Each of the Outland dungeons may be run on Heroic Mode if every member of the party has obtained the appropriate key. The key for each dungeon is reached by achieving Revered reputation with the appropriate faction

So, Shattered Halls until Reverd with HH, and Steamvaults until Revered with Cernarian etc etc then start doing the Heroics until Exalted?

Awesome - should be sweet - altho slightly longer tho!

I did all the quests first on my hunter, not realising this would hurt later. On my shammy, I have done a bare minimum of quests for HH and CE. I have just been running hellfire ramparts / unidentified plant parts turn-ins. I am half way to honored with HH and nearly honored with CE and still have all the quests. Hoping to hit revered with CE at level 60, I should end up nearly revered with HH and means a bare minimum of shattered halls at 70 for revered.

the none-boring way to run Hellfire ramparts / blood furnace again and again is to run it once a night and do some azeroth quests.

You can also do the quests that they give you at Telredor, these give darnassus / exodar / alliance reputation points.

One clarification - honor usually refers to 'honor points' or honor kills which is a different thing entirely from reputation points.

Heh, yes I mean Rep points - all this honored, revered, etc making me think honor! Sorry for the type :)
