I spent 2 or 2 1/2 hours 3 manning the elite troll quests in the hinterlands. It was myself (48 Fury Warrior), a 49 priest, anda 48 mage. When I have 1 shadowhunter left to kill, and 7 Berserkers, they log off...as they'd gotten theirs. I'm so pissed. I wanted that trinket.

Most of the times I have been in this type of situation - I have finished the quest ahead of others and they have said they don't mind if I leave - I always stay until they finish theirs.

And with the elite trolls in the hinterland you need a group (or a high-level friend) to finish it.

I guess the lesson here is to expect a me me me person to be playing the other character(s), and be glad if it turns out they aren't.

well...we did all the part of it w/ just we three. I'm twinked out...and they were very skilled. My DPS wasn't up to par...but if I do say so, myself, my tanking was phenomenal...maybe the best job I've ever done. I managed adds and the Spriest drawing crazy aggro really well. We did every aspect of 5 quests w/ just we three.

Until they freaking bailed on me at the end. I started drinking, as it's my last day of classes and I'm mad. I apologize for incoherent sentece structures.

I hate that too. I am soooo cagey of PuGs. You will get there eventually.

I can't count how many times this has happened to me, but like you I take pleasure in not being like them - I always make sure everybody has finished before we disband. It's just plain good manners; sadly good manners is not a prerequisite of the game :(

I'm always surprised when a quest hog DOESN'T disband when they get theirs.

You know the quest hogs - they are always sure to get their drops first to the point where they won't strike the killing blow, instead they loot the mob as soon as it drops.

It's kinda funny, actually.

Really sux to play for hours just to realize u wont finish what u have started. I stopped picking up elite quests and went full soloable quest + instances with the guild. Helped me alot and actually saved me time. Most of the rewards arent worth a dime in 4-5 levels anyway.

When I join any group, I always join with the mindset that I am there until everyone in the group is finished with the quest, regardless of whether or not I get my quest items first, etc.

I've ran with groups that go into instances, get the one quest item they were after, and then leave. Very frustrating, to say the least. Even if there is only one thing I need in an instance, I join a group with the understanding that I will likely be running the entire thing (unless, as a group, only a small portion is needed).

If I play with someone and it's obvious they have left because they finished their quest before I finished mine, then they make it to my ignore list with a note (thanks to that handy mod someone linked me to!) about why I don't want to group with them in the future.

I've actually found that the people who leave are in the minority. Most people I group up with for elite quests typically seem to stay until the end.
