My friend is about to start playing WoW. We talked about it and I think he`s going to make a Rogue.
I want to create a new character to help him leveling - a character that I`ll only play in team with him. What class should I choose for this? Any suggestions?
Also, what are other good teams of two characters for leveling? (except the super classic priest-warrior combo) Anyone is doing or has done this sort of thing before?
The easiest for you two to level with would be a hunter... but as a rogue and hunter- don't ever expect to get into an instance party. If instances will be a goal- priest, pally or druid would be the best options.
Druid.
Excellent buffs. (MotW and Imp LotP) Ability to tank and DPS with one talent tree. Healing ability for those tight spots. What more could you want?

not to mention your rogue buddy could go daggers and backstab pwn everything while your in bear tanking...or he goes combat/swords and you go catform??

Adaptability - key to the Druid, and why it would be best.
But that means you Rogue buddy can go on auto-pilot bashing things, while you have to keep track of agro/rage management, hp status for a quick heal, and be ready to switch tactics at a moment's notice.
He'd better be grateful

Warlock anyone? Tanking with your big blue friend, to make backstab possible. Fear for those annoying (groupe)-quests, so a little crowed control thrown in. Healtstones are allways nice and so are soulstones. Lots of dps between the 2 of you and both charaters fits in the same theme as shady charaters. As a nice side effect you dont have many item preferences in commen. cloth vs. leather and so on.

Druid. Stealth duos ftw.
On top of that, at least you'll bring one class that's wanted in groups.

Me and 2 buddys did 3 rogues, and never had a problem doing anything remotely near our level, and ganked ?? players many times thanks to our combined stunlock ability.
So with a rogue, I could see rogue or druid probably being the best options, just because you both could get into spots other classes wouldn't be able to get to, but honestly, about any class would work well, although some more efficiently than others (like hunter and ice mage, never seen so much control and power in any other duo).

Leveling right now with my wife (warlock) and me (rogue). 52 currently, and have no problems at all. You don't really have to worry about health that much because we kill so freaking fast. For elites, we do what Moustgaard said, bring out the big blue friend. On a PvP server, having two dps classes really helps keep the gankers away...really, not away, just dead. But, as said before a feral druid could be a really good option.
Funny, our mains are Resto Druid (wife) and Protection Warrior (me). In PvE we can kill anything, and do any quest it just takes more time. Problem is, PvP is terriable. People talk about what is the best PvP class, who knows, what I can tell you is that those two are frimly at the bottom. lol

I'd say go with a druid or a mage - a class that has a really good snare / root ability to coincide with the rogues talents and vice versa.

Druid - for dual stealthing
Then again, if you hate healing, roll a dps class.
Personally, if I was starting from scratch, I'd go Shammy.

In high level 5 man's, I've found that Hunters are the best pullers in the game. I may be wrong, but IMO, a well executed pulling strategy is the most critical element of a successful and easygoing instance run.
I did Blood Furnace with me (mage), hunter, rogue, shaman, and priest. Mostly 3 mob pulls:
1) Rogue- sap
2) I sheep one other target
3) Hunter pulls the main target
4) FF the main target
5) FF the sapped target
6) FF the sheeped target
We had one death, and that's when the first or second boss MC'd the Hunter and the Hunter killed the priest LOL. Shaman was there to rez the priest and we moved on.
P.S. I think that's the only thing that the shaman did other than gimped healing lol.
EDIT: Oh, and for dual leveling, a mage/lock combo is virtually unstoppable. Two mass DPS classes with excellent crowd control, not to mention a tank to go along with it? No comparison. Not to mention, on a PVP server most gankers would think twice before encountering this combo.
I still think the best addition to a rogue is a feral druid. You've already got the rogue there for stuns, pickpocketing, opening locked boxes, etc. With the druid you bring valuable buffs, heals, stealth, tanking, etc. It's an uber combo. :)
Its obviously a drood ... no question

I'm in a hunter/mage combo (i'm the mage), we just rip through everything. Having a hunter pet is a godsend. We also do well in pvp. I usually get targetting first (obviously) - i blink away, sheep one, let the hunter sick the pet and concussion on the other, then I nuke from afar.

How will would the "two dps" classes combo work against a lot of the elite mob quests in Outlands?
You really need some sort of tank/healer combo for a lot of them. (nothing extreme, but the basic functionality must be there)

druid would be the best with a feral build with some resto or a paladin with holy / prot build

I agree with the Druid comments. My better half just got into WoW and so I started a new character to play with her. She wanted a hunter so I did the Priest rout. It has been great. We use the pet to tank and I just sit back DoT, HoT, and wand away. She is learning how not to pull agroo off the pet and to set traps. It has been great, now the "us" time is spent playing WoW instead of visiting her parents.

Wife and I started new toons: She a pally me a Shammie. Talk about pissing people off...2 classes that were never meant to run together...
Leveling is slow, but lots of heals, and it's nice when we are over our head...we volunteer one of us to make a last stand as the other "goes for help"...ROFL
For a Rogue...Druid or pally would be good. Heals, tankage, and such.

I would say go with whatever you wanted to play. Any combo presents a vast array of options.
I've gone the duoing route with my Priestess, levelling since my early teens with my Rogue companion. Her damage brings down mobs really quick that usually I need only throw a Renew on her and go back to dpsing. If we draw a couple of mobs too many, I often aggro one and let it bang away on my Reflective Shields while we take down the others. I rarely make a dent in my mana now, before we're off after the next kill, and she doesn't have to take time out to heal up as a quick heal means we're ready for the next fight.
And of course I get all my lock boxes open for free.
And for the few true PuGs we do, even if they're not keen on a Rogue, won't mind if they get a healing Priestess in the deal.
If you really want to cover all the bases, then a Druid seems best. You'll bring healing and tanking abilities to the duo, and you'll be able to stealth with your Rogue friend when needed. But really, play what you find is fun, the social aspect of it is what's important, and if you're enjoying what you're playing, it'll be all the more fun to team up together.

Me and my wife have played in duo since EU release. Our main pair is a 70 mage/hunter team, good plain nuking fun, excellent elite kiting etc.
But to the topic: I also recommend a feral druid as rogue partner. We have actually put our mains on hold for a while to focus on our rogue/druid duo, now in their mid-40ies - dual stealthing is great fun! We have high hopes of the rogue/druid duo making a descent 2vs2 Arena team, but that remains to be seen.

I would go a Druid with a rogue - leader of the pack for +5% crit is just probably, maybe going to make a happy rogue.
Funny - my wife and I did the same, she a pally and me a shammy. I'm enhancement and she is holy/ret. She can tank 1-2 mobs fairly well and I can usually DPS the other mobs down - we have taken on some awesome stuff together. She is 60 and I am 61 we are thinking of duoing BRD :)
Pallies can res, and sacrifice, and shamans can res, and reincarnate (every 40m with talents)

I actually leveled my druid with a paladin, but my other friend leveled a rogue shortly after. My rogue friend and I have a blast running around stealthing together. They do make a nice super melee damage (I am feral of course) team and having the possibility to tank/heal/dps is awesome to fit different situations. Elites are easy - I tank and he spanks, then when i need a heal, cripple, kite, feral charge and heal, or just stun and heal, whatever needs to be done.
