sending mail inter-faction possible?

I'm a casual WoW player, took 8 months to get my Alliance character to 70 and as you know gold is very easy to come by in Outlands.

So I'm starting my first Alt with the increased knowledge I have, cept I'm starting as a Horde so I can see the world from the other perspective. Because I'm more enlightened to WoW I figure she'd be tailor/enchanter - which is pretty expensive to level. So I'm worried about earning enough at 40 for a mount. Then I realize my Alliance toon has a ton of gold that she could mail over.

Will it work?

Nope, mail only works within your faction, it isn't possible to send mail to Alliance from Horde or vice versa. Infact the only way to trade gold or items over to another faction is by using the neutral AH by setting up expensive auctions and then buying it yourself.

Unfortunately, you cannot bid on an auction placed on the AH by the same account.

If you have a RL friend, or a guildie you trust very much, place a single piece of cloth on a neutral AH (Booty Bay and Ratchet I think are the two cities with the neutral AHs) with your Horde toon, give the gold to an Alliance buddy and have them buy the cloth, and *poof* your auction money will be en route to your hordie's mail box, minus the neutral AH's exorbitant fee.

I'm not aware of any auction houses in either Booty Bay or Ratchet, though there is one in Gadgetzan I think ... is that Neutral or Alliance though (I'm pretty sure it's not Horde).

Gadgetzan/Everlook has a neutral AH.

According to the wowwiki, there is one in Gadgetzan, Booty Bay, and Everlook. My apologies for the bad lead in Ratchet, though.

The auction house in Booty Bay is easy to miss. It's just one auctioneer standing on a crate in front of the bank.

Its down the boardwalk from the Inn. Since its the last thing down there, most people probably never make it that far. I found it by accident while searching for the Ally flight point, which is also really hard to find.
