my main is a NE hunter, now I just got some friends to start playing and I'm unsure which would round our little party out better. I'll play either class, it doesnt bother me at all.
So our little group of 3 players already has a NE hunter (what a shock!) and a NE druid. Since we all want to level together, I rolled a NE priest, but I'm thinking maybe a warrior would be better. I'll play either, I'm just trying to figure what would be best for our "little" group"
I'm only planning on leveling this character when all 3 of us are playing.

This could depend on what specs your friends have for there toons.....

Specs? everyone is just starting. So there really are no specs yet. We all leveled only to 6 the other night. I'm just thinking that maybe I should have rolled a tank instead of a priest. I can easily start a warrior. I was thinking that the priest would be better in instances for the group, so I can heal them. But a tank can take a beating.

John, what does your druid friend think? Does he/she want to tank or heal? If you keep with the priest, the druid will pretty much have to tank, or heal if you roll a warrior. Plus you should think what you will be speccing in when you get there :)

Oh and dont forget first aid for all characters in your group, it goes a long way in helping :)

That's a good question. I'll ask. I'm very new to this myself, so I'm still unsure of what class can do what. As far as first aid, I just found that our myself, this weekend. I leveled first aid from 1 to 191 last night. I saved all of my linen, cloth and silk and spent time increasing the skill last night. those heavy silk bandages, do alot of healing!

Good John !! Ive only been playing since January myself, but first aid is a must have, make sure you tell your friends/group aswell. If you are on the same server as your new group, send them the linen & cloth so they can lvl their FA. My alts love my main for this very reason !!

The amount of people I meet who dont do it "coz I got Priest friend who healz" is getting out of hand & those types should be /ignored at all cost. You should be able to look after yourselves & as you say, those heavy silks do help mate !!

Back to original question, have you thought about a DPS spellcaster? Although your hunter friend may have to re roll a warlock - they are awesome in the right hands. Anyway, at the lower lvls it doesnt take too long to re roll so good luck & let me know how it goes, Odi

I'm still very new to the WOW scene, as I've only been playing for about month. I honestly havent really looked into what the warlock does and can do. I can ask him if he's interested in that. I'll do some looking to find out about the warlock. thank you very much for all of your suggestions.

Hey no problem John. I mentioned warlock as they also have a pet (minion as they are called) which might appeal to your hunter friend. A mage has some really good tricks too !!

Hunter/Druid/Priest can be a really nice combination. When just grinding you should have the hunter's pet tanking (might be an idea to have him spec Beast Mastery) so that the druid can go in cat form and the priest in shadowform.

For instancing and elite quests a feral druid is a very decent tank - at least in the high lvls, dunno 'bout the low ones - and even a shadow-specced priest can heal VERY well if he's at the lvl required to tank the instance (which you will be). Oh and again a BM hunter will be quite useful, his pet can offtank 1 or 2 enemies (3 if you keep Renew on him) and he can trap a 4th mob for 10 seconds in lvl 20. Also BMs do fairly decent damage, the output from the hunter isn't quite as high as a MM, but the pet more than makes up for this.

Warriors depend very much on the gear that they have. You will be spending plenty of gold keeping your gear in tip top shape, Wars are a mail waering class and at level 40 wear plate. As a warrior, you should always have the best gear you can find and afford, and atleast at every even level, go shopping at the AH. You have plenty of options as to what weapons you can use, but you will want to (as you progress) keep a 1h weapon and shield, a 2Hander and another off hand weapon for dual wielding. Get the itemrack UI as well.

In the early levels, you won't depend on gear so much but as you start getting into the 5 man instances (after Deadmines) this will start becomming more of a focus. Carry plenty of healing and buff pots too, especially Rage pots, increased armor and increased strength. As far as what armor to look for stamina is always your friend, followed buy strength and agility. Spirit means nothing to a warrior, and Intellect is only useful for upping your weapon skill.

Make use of the secondary professions too, especially First Aid, there will be times when all of your potions are on acool down and you may not have time to sit there and eat.

I know i barely scratched the surface, but i hope this helps a bit
