I'm a lvl 41 hunter BE who recently got creamed in pvp battle by someone's pet. Come to find out it's a lvl 43 elite. So I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a pet I might get that is also an elite.
Thanks

That was probably King Bangalash, and dont worry about getting elite once the patch comes out you can give your pet cobra reflexes too(it used to be a King B exclusive) . Also if you are having a problem with another hunters pet just use scare beast or trap it.

Yes it was...him and his 2 little minions killed me in the wild. Thats when I thought...I must have an elite pet of my own. <eg>

Elite, rare, and named pets used to matter. Go far enough back and you'd have King Bangalash outrunning epic mounts and Lupos (a rare wolf from duskwood) doing shadowdamage and ignoring ppl's armor.
Now? King Bangalash is still slightly better because of cobra reflexes.
Next patch? Well, Humar the Pridelord will keep his looks (black lion).. and that's about it.. Decide on what family you'd like (owls, cats, wolfs, hyenas, turtles, gorillas, etc.) and then find whichever ones looks the best.

also when you train it its not elite any more so only a few pets in game are really worth getting as elites

Can't you tame Sons of Hakkar? That would be a pretty cool pet to have.

:ponder: Really? Please explain . . will this be trainable at a pet trainer? Need to tame KB and then teach to your other pet?
Interested in any Hunter updates / changes.

you tame King B, learn the skill and then teach it too others in the same family.
and yes, you can tame Sons of Hakkar. But the only difference from another same-levelled wind serpent will be the looks.

As Cobra Reflexes is a passive skill you can NOT learn it from ANY pet. It's taught by trainer, just as all other passives. Cost = 15 TP, lvl 30 required.
Also they'll be adding a completely new skill to pets, named Avoidance, reducing the damage they take from AoE spells, at rank 2 at a cost of 25 TP (lvl 60 required, taught by trainer) it'll reduce AoE damage by 50%.
Also they're changing something about Kill Command but you'll have to read up on that in the patch notes. That's:

You sure can, and they'll have Lightning Breath rank 6 when tamed, and are able to learn Bite, Cower, Dive, and all the trainer-taught stuff.
They even used to change color every time called but I think that was changed..

On the topic of rare beasts (mentioned in a post above) I found Lupos the other day and enjoyed killing him and taking his hide armor. However recently I came across another rare... a Darkmane something in Duskwood, north of the road in the area called Brightwood Grove. and someone else killed and looted it before I could get to it. I spend a lot of time mining and grinding in that particular area, and I haven't seen it again. I hope I come across it again.

Didn't want to start a new thread, so I'm reviving this one to ask a quick question.
Last night (at level 68) I was in Un'Goro Crater helping a friend out when I ran into a horde player (I'm on a PVP server) who was ~level 53. He attacked and I figured it'd be an easy kill. However, his pet had a silver dragon around his portrait, which looked like an elite or rare.
It was immune to hiberate and roots and, even with barkskin on, I couldn't DPS fast enough to take it down and it killed me with half health left. Of course, I wasn't thinking and should have focused on the hunter, but my question is what in the world did he have for a pet?

More than likely, that was a beastmaster hunter. Their 31 point talent is one that gives the pet immunity to all CC for a short period of time (18 seconds, I think).

i remember at some point elite pets used to keep their higher than average hp/armor/speed... but not anymore.. all pets of the same class are equal...

Silver Dragon = Rare mob. And based on your description it was probably an elite, too.
Taming rares, however, will make the silver dragon disappear. Chance is that he was simply following 1 of the rare mobs in the crater around, waiting for it to attack ppl, then ganking them.

What kind of pet was it? Cat, boar, serpent, alien, etc...

I didint want to start a new thread, just wanted to ask, people have mentioned how in the next patch you will be able to train any cat the King Bang cobra reflexes. Has that patch came out already? Or is it scheduled soon?
Also, wouldnt it still be better to get King Bang because he comes with cobra reflexes so you wont have to waste 30 points to train it?

Pets that come with abilities learned also have the points spent to account for it. When you tame a beast, you'll often see it has negative TP to start- that's why.

It's not out yet, and I have still to see any MMO keep any deadline or do anything in accordance with schedule - Blizzard were smart about it and simply stopped giving estimates of when stuff will be ready.
The other question is answered above.

Since the release of the game, which is slightly more than 2 years ago I believe, there has been 12 content patches (adding new stuff to the game) as well as a huge number of minor bugfixes, hotfixes, and maintenance patches.
Other than that it usually happen on a wedensday morning (around 3AM where the impact on your gametime is minimal) there's really no way to predict the behaviour of them other than to say that it's about 5 content patches per year.
