last week I found a wpn. Its purple lettered and named ardent custodian (req lvl 38). So at first I thought I'd auction it on the auction house. the problem I am having is I dont have the foggiest clue how much to ask for it. So I was hoping if someone could tell me if you know of a place I could go to and get some sort of idea how much to ask for it.

thanks in advance for your help :)

The way to sell 'epic' items is to list it with your highest price first, then continually relist at slightly lower prices until it sells

You can also search the AH to see if there are any others of this item up for sale.

If there are others up for sale, you can either list yours at a higher price, same price or undercut. Or you can hold onto it till there are no others on the AH and yours is the only one.

For the ardent custodian, I would suggest listing at 175g buyout and 125g bid

This item usually sells for 75g-100g, but you never know, someone may absolutely be willing to pay anything for it.

Next listing, put it up for 125g buyout and 95g bid

Then dropping the buyout and bid by 5g each time you relist. Make sure you list for 24 hours each time (the default is 8)

This is according to the average price on the servers - your server may be higher or lower. If there is one up for 30g, then put yours in the bank and wait till there are none up there.

Also try linking on trade channel, without a price e.g.

/2 WTS [Argent Custodian]

If you put a price on trade, you will get gooses saying silly stuff.

There are a couple of sites which have auction price history - one is one of the infamous "icky" sites and one is a specialist WoW Econ nomic site, that you can search for prices by server and faction.

Use your favourite web search engine.

Download and install the Auctioneer mod. Check out the numerous threads about using the AH, and Auctioneer in these forums for all the details you could possibly want. It will help you price and sell your auction items.

Yeah, some of the available mods will tell you what that particular item has sold for in the past on your server. It's a great benchmark for reselling!

Random guess is around 75G ..give or take the market on your server. Like Piscene said, auctioneer is your friend in finding prices, but another non auctioneer method is to browse the AH and look for the weapon or item you have, then you can get an idea of what it is going for, and undercut a bit.

But none could be found at any of the times :(. Of course being me I chose the "perfect" time to put it on the auction house. Yesterday lol. Now no one can play because of maintenance and I bet by the time the realms come back up my auction time expired.

I have learnt a couple of things. One being I learnt you can help others by prebuffing their chars if you walk past them. So whenever I have enough mana I do that. Specialy to lower lvls since I know how much harder it was when I was really low lvl and had close to no equip to play with.

Also found most of the horde players to be quite helpful. A couple of times when I went in over my head they helped kill the monster who was attacking me. And a couple has helped me with some quests that say group and which I cant do on my own. I do have problems with this. Only because as a priest it seems like ,,, well it seems like if all I do is heal other players that I'm a leecher of exp and not doing a thing to help. So for the most part I avoid group quests.

you know as a priest - groups will search you out specifically so you can heal their group/quest for 'fill in the blank' here. So - your class is a highly valued member of most groups - sometimes it's just timing.

When you're out questing/grouping with people, put the ones you like and want to play with again in your friends list - they'll probably have the time to help you later with those group quests.

I just started an alt playing a priest. and I certainly dont think that "just healing" is leaching exp at all. I solo my main hunter mostly and when there are group quests that need to be done, I gladly welcome a healer! I dont feel that the healer does any leaching by healing me and my pet so that we can continue to fight the mobs without dying. You are welcome to quest with me anytime.

So - your class is a highly valued member of most groups - sometimes it's just timing.thats the part I find the funniest. And here's why: I used to play diablo2 with a group of friends. when most of the ones I enjoyed playing moved to wow I eventualy was convinced to give it a try as well. So after the painful task of chosing my char's look I did some quests in this really pretty place. Then I moved on to a second area which realy wasnt my cup of tea. Lots of spiders and rather ugly looking monsters. BUT the monsters were "high" lvl so I was getting enough exp there. So at about lvl 18? or so I left and took the ship to orgrimmar and then went to the crossroads and did some more quests there. Thats when I began getting a lot of whispers from people asking me to go all over and do stuff. which I really couldnt figure out considering I was so uterly lost most of the time, AND because friends were telling me what a hard time they were having to find groups to do some of the quests they were trying to. I mean I knew these people werent asking for my help based on my navigational skills. After all sometimes I actualy managed to get lost inside of a house simply because I forgot where the door was. I guess maybe my problem is I'm too used to other games still like diablo2 where every char could somewhat solo the game. And so everyone could help. In here healing feels a lot like not doing anything and just leeching exp from others. So I even try to be the last one to choose the drops since I didnt really do any dmg to the monsters and all I do was wave my arms around like a dodo bird every now and again.

You have to rethink the gameplay, and you will as you learn more about the game and it's dynamics. Priests can be one of the most sought after classes in the game for 2 reasons. First they are not wildly popular to play so there are not many of them on most servers. Second, if you are in a group and you do nothing but heal the other players in that group the last thing you are doing is "leeching". You are keeping them alive so they can keep fighting/questing/whatever. You played a critical part in getting thier exp and any loot that is dropped. The priest has just as much of a right to loot as anyone else in the group.
In alot of the 5-man instances that you may do, a priest (or other type of healer) may be a necessity depending on the chemistry of the group. You should never consider yourself less worthy of any loot or exp because you are "just healing". Healing in a group is a need in the game and you should consider yourself just as valuable as the person who is doing all the damage in the group, without you he/she may not survive the fight.

Here's how that went. Friends told me what server they were in and told me to start a char there. So after a good 10 minutes of not even being able to find the goofy server name I located it. And of course not knowing a thing about it? I chose the char that looked the least offensive looking (at the time I started without buying the burning crusade since I figured it would take a while to reach lvl 60 anyway). Turns out I chose an alliance char. So I was told I had the wrong char AND the wrong class lol. I should chose a char in the hordes section. Since they were all rather insulting looking I then bought the expansion pack and chose a blood elf. And this is how I got to be a priest  Of course once I got to contested territory I then went through the why is a lvl ?? killing me over and over again when all the other monters are around my lvl. And it took me a while to even realize that they were alliance, and even more to realize they couldnt understand a word that I was saying to them.

Ya I must admit the dinamics in this game are rather different then the others I was used to play. Diablo2 being an example. I may start looking for groups since I now have a decent amount of quests in dungeons and instances which I cant complete by myself. And some of them have rewards that do look rather appealing to me

One thing I do love is herbalism :) I get to walk around and just pick flowers and look at them in my bag. And yes I was rather shocked to find out people would give me 30 gold in some cases for some of the stuff I pick as a way to get to places and complete my quests.

Just wait until you get into high end Herbalism ...lots of money there. and if you have Alchemy, you can make even more money as some of the pots sell for more than the herbs used to make them.

Seriously though, you should make an alt on Llane server, Alliance side and come hang out with us OTF crazies. R++ is there too.
