How would I go about turning this on? I am sick of holding W and not being able to communicate in my parties.

Auto run default key = Num Lock
I would suggest reassigning it to something easier though.......

Sorry, but how would I reassign keys?
I am very very new to this and am having a real hard time switching from PS2 controls to keyboard controls. Everything else in the game seems reasonable, but the keyboarding is killing me. Literally.

Go to interface options (or is it key settings, sorry I forget) when "in game" you can change it there. Also note there is an advanced tab at the top of the options page for other settings including extra action bars.
<edit> These options are on the same icon as when you logout or exit game.

Aww I <3 my numlock autorun. Its one of those things that I can not accidentaly press and result in me running into a group of mobs in an instance. (although my blink as number 4 sucked...).

Speaking of assigning keys....
(I have so many questions it feels! Argh.)
I have started by playing a Druid. I am at level 10, but everyone else who are doing the same quests as me are levels 7-9, so I am way behind because I am trying to take my time & learn the game navigation/controls.
Anyway, my friend showed me (in my one hour tutorial before he returned to NYC and left me to my own devices) that you have two spell casting tool bars (or whatever they might be called - the things down along the bottom of the screen that get assigned to 1,2,3, etc).
My question is can I set up two different set ups planned out? I would like to have one for soloing and then one for primarily healing when in parties. I would like to not have to stop and reconfigure the whole thing each time I was working with someone and trying to keep them alive and my mana intact.
I really suck at this game. I am so sick of trying to find my poor dead body.

You can reassing keys by going to main menu -> key bindings, then just scroll down until you find what you're looking for.
In main menu -> interface options -> advanced you can check boxes for four extra action bars when you start running out of space on the normal one, and somewhere there are also such handy things as auto loot and scrolling combat text. You might want to check them out when you have time.
Edit: You posted at same time as me, so i'll try to answer your question too. You can set up 4 bars on the normal action bar and there are many ways to switch between them. You can click the up/down arrows at right end, press shift and number of action bar(1 for the one you start with, 2 for next one, if you dont have extra bars enabled there are also 3 and 4, but they are same as the extra bars enabled from interface options) or you can press shift and scroll up/down with mouse.
Also note that as druid you'll get shapeshift forms, like bear and cat form. They have their own action bar that comes up when you shift into those forms.

There are various ways you can go about this. One is to set up action bars for different situations, as you suggest. So one would be your questing abilities, another for instance, etc.
Also, with a druid, when you change forms, the UI will automatically switch from the 1st action bar to the 2nd (at least for bear form, that's as far as I've gotten so far).
You can also go into the Interface Options, Advanced, and add more action bars to your screen. You can have two more laying on top of your current action bar/game buttons, and two more vertically along the right hand side of your screen.
There are also various mods that will help you arrange buttons on your screen, or add a handy little interface tool for some common buttons, depending on class.

thank you guys. i will print this out & try it all when i get home from work. if i have any more questions, i will know where to come.
this is a truly helpful forum, btw. i have read all the newbie guides, but i love being able to ask my own questions and ACTUALLY GET A RESPONSE!
I have one of my side buttons on my mouse assigned for auto-run as well, makes it easier for me to toggle since I primarily use my right hand for navagation, and my left for hotbuttons. Just my 2 cp

I wouldn't bother with mods right now. Get used to
- using keyboards to move
- navigating the terrain of Teldrassil
Night Elves are a hard race to start with because the forrests are all so dense and full of "natural boundaries". You can hardly never run straight to where you wanna be even if you're L60.
After Teldrassil Darkshore has a more level playing field greatly improving navigation, but it's so stretched out you end running a LOT.
After Darkshore Ashenvale is Teldrassil and Darkshore combined. HUGE Forrest area with alot of natural boundaries. Don't even think of stepping off the beaten paths and "take a shortcut".
Then Desolace is good again. It's a huge flat wasteland. NO Boundaries !
Then Feralas is forrests again, but by that time you're so used to them you spent all of Desolace missing your precious trees. I swear, the first thing I did in Feralas was hug the biggest tree I could find.
L40 brings relief with a mount. +60% speed is ALOT.
In that respect: spec feral and get the +30% speed increase in cat form ASAP. Will shave tons off your running time.

Spec Feral?!? Most places say spec resto! (I think I am using the right words here... I am considering writing a true newbie guide for true newbies... as soon as I learn what DPS means... I think it is Damage Per Second, but I could be wrong. Probably.)
I can't really do feral now, I have already spent 3 points elsewhere. I was planning on 34/0/27. Not that I have a good reason why, it just looked like that was a good choice.
I'm a slow mover personally anyway. I spend much much more time wandering around in the fields "farming" than I do on the quests. I wanted to be an explorer when I was little.

Fortythree, most guides you'll see don't take leveling into account, they just discuss what is best for playing the game at level 70. Check my post here:
http://forums.worldofwar.net/showthread.php?t=392084
for a feral leveling build.

You're right. I got so confused when I got my first talent point (and my second, and my third... that's all I have). All the guides are end results & don't tell you where/how to start. That seems to be a general trend in WoW. I guess the moral is that I should have spent the cash years ago instead of waiting until now to get into it.
I wish I would have found your guide earlier.
I wish someone had a similar step by step guide to spending the talent points, because up to now I have been shooting in the dark.

DPS = Damage Per Second. Congratulations on guessing that so fast, took me a few years but then again that was in another game..
As for your talents. Well, afaik Feral is the fastest way to level up 'till around lvl 50 where Balance overtakes it. Personally I'd stick with Feral all the way to 69 as it's more useful in groups than Balance, but that's up to you.
Resto is the absolutely worst spec available for levelling. You got no particular ranged or melee damage, and a few healing increases wont work wonders while soloing. In return it is the best spec for doing the high-level dungeons.
And the good news: You can reset your talents. Only thing it'll cost you (the first time) is a few silver, but you'd want to look at any guides you can find as well as some talent calculators to plan what you want to do with your points as the price goes up drastically every time you change your mind.
