in game mail limit?

Is there any limit to the amount of mail that can be sitting in your mailbox? The reason I ask, is that I just recently realized that I can basically dump all my bags by mailing the stuff to an alt. Then by not opening the mail, it can sit for 30 days. And if I ever need anything, I just log onto my alt and hit the return button and instantly I have my stuff back. I just wonder if your mailbox can ever get "full" and either have the mail rejected or worse...lost in the mail.

I have not ever hit a limit on how much can be IN the mailbox, but there definitely is a limit on how much you can see....(seven pages, IIRC)

Your idea, while sound on one front, might cause you to exceed that limit by two or three times that amount, making it so you can't do anything, since you have no idea how many pages lower the "thing #1" that you need is located...

If there's a limit to how many letters you can have in your mailbox, it's on the far side of 300.

However, as mesonm just said there is a limit to how many of them you can see: 50
Usually not a problem as, if you got more than 50 letters, you'll be opening them anyway, but if you got 300 letters sitting on an alt you'll be unable to see how long you got to go before the first 1 recieved is deleted (after 30 days) which just might become an issue.

What you should do instead is run a couple of lvl 1 chars to a city (think Stormwind is probably the easiest 1) and park them at the mailbox outside the bank, then you just mail enough items to them to fill up their bank and bag, and mail them back if you ever need 'em.

Or you could put it on the AH and make some gold instead. Always room for more gold!

You know I think I hit that 50 limit of what you can see the other night. I had thought that I had lost some of my mail. Yes, I think I'll be creating soem more alts.

FSVO "instantly", there's usually still a one hour lag on returned items, I think.

I've noticed when you just mail an item it takes about an hour, but when you return the mail, it is instant. Which is why I have been mailing stuff to the alt and not taking the mail until I actually need the item, but before the 30 day expiration

Returned mail is [nearly] instant...

I've rarely had it take up to a minute to receive a returned item [dual boxed, on two accounts, returning one to the other], but is most often much faster than that.
