I heard once that honor penalty was very high in AV and low in 1vs1 or WSG.
How does this work and how is it in AB and Eye compared to AV and WSG? I play for honor, you always have 100x more marks than you need anyways, so nothing to use them for.
I like Eye more than WSG, that is why I want to know what I lose by choosing the funniest, when it comes to honor farming :)

It doesn't matter where you are...When you are in a group (party or raid) your honor per kill is much lower than if you do the deed yourself....

The WSG honor, and EoTS honor is obtained as you gain points in the gameAND as kills...Of course, both help.

There is an honor penalty based on level... but I think mesonm hit probably what you're talking about.

In AV you'll get a lot more HKs but much less honor per... You get quite a bit of honor for completing the BG though if you capture all the objectives. If you're farming honor, I'd go on Defense and own everything you see in the name of protecting the GY.

Well there used to be an honor penalty... you got like 1/3rd the honor at 19 than you did at 60... I don't know how this changed with the new honor system vs the old ranked system. I never twinked, so it never affected me.

Another thing to consider is the diminishing returns on kills. I don't know what the scale is, but the more you kill (or get credit for killing) an enemy, the less honor they are each time. If you are farming kills at the expense of winning the match, you may be getting far less honor than if you did a combination of both.

Also, generally the kills in AV get split more because the team is bigger, but it doesn't depend on the overall size of the raid, instead it's a range. For example, an AV raid is 40 people, but if only you and 4 other people are within a certain distance of the enemy being killed, you will gain 1/5 of the honor for the kill because only you and the 4 other people in range got credit.

Okay, so that clears up some of my incertancies... But then what about these:
I am a Shadow Priest, so I can both do damage and heal. I have found out, though, that my healing can often help the team more than my dps. Therefore I usually heal, though in my PvP stamina gear, so I can also dps if I need to defend myself.

What do I need to do, to get as much honor as others? I won't get many kills, but do I get honor shared with those I healed prior to them killing a horde, or do I simply get honor for being in the vicinity, even though I haven't touched the horde or the person killing it?
I sometimes feel I get less honor from healing than from dpsing, since I don't get a large chunk of credit for the kill, and since I feel my healing helps more than my dps, I don't understand if it works that way. I should be credited more, if not at least the same.

If you are in the vicinity of the HK, no matter if you heal or deal damage, you will get an equal share of the honor.

I confirm: You will get the same honor just for being in the vicinity. They did this so healers would get their fair share of honor. I am a feral druid, so in AV, I'll dps a bit, but often since it benefits the team more, I'll tank and heal. Seems everyone can Dps, but it's usually the healers and tanks that are rare. In other BG's everyone's a tank, so healing becomes even more of an issue.

It's not so much as a penalty as it is just a simple game mechanic. Say it's a group of 10 that is in the vicinity of a kill, most 70s are worth 20 honor, so logic says 2 honor for the kill. Repeated kills they become worth far less, and in most cases zero honor. Even though the HK spam says 1 honor point, it's worth a very small fraction of one since it's rounded up.

A good rule in AV is to stay away from the main group if you are out for honor. per kill.
