I'm at 36 and a NE Hunter. I'm looking foward to getting my first mount. Since I am not exhalted in any factions yet, it looks like my only option will be to get a mount will be either a Frostsaber or Nightsaber. I see people talking about getting mounts from other factions, is there any difference other than just looks to get your mount from another faction?

Other than the look? no, not really. there is one mount you cannot ride as a night elf and that would be the Mechano strider (sp?) it's for gnomes (dwarves perhaps) only.

OK, thanks. That's what I thought. So for right now I see no reason to try to get exhalted in any faction at the moment.

Yea don't even worry about it. I;'m a night elf and I'm barely honored with Darn and I am 39. If you want your own race's mount than don't concern yourself with it. (I may be wrong) but I have yet to see a reason to be exaulted with darn to begin with..just me though.

You don't have to be exalted to get a mount from your own race. And to get a mount from other races is just purely for looks, if you like something else better other than the sabers. I personally think the sabers are the nicest looking mounts for the Alliance. Which is why i went out and did all the beginning lvl quests in darnassus, all of auberdine and all of ashenvale to be able to have a saber for my mount. I like the pretty kitty lol. I didn't want to be stuck with the ugly elephant. When i did a quest in bloodmyst that lets you ride an elekk for fifteen minutes, i couldn't see past it's huge butt, got really annoying lol

back away slowly and try to not make any sudden movements. keep your hands in plain view at all times, and if you have a jacket, cover up.

You can hear the stretched out "Nooooooooooo" echoing in the background. But we're probably heading a bit far afield from johnmacd's first mount.
John, as others have said, other racial mounts is purely for looks. I ditched my human Warlock because I wanted an Epic Skeletal mount and am now slowly working my way up to Exalted with the Undercity. There are however other benefits to having reputation with those Factions, like cheaper costs for everything (Including Flights) and so on.
i've always thought it's kollegegurl who needed mounting... :p

Thats like something in said in /1 in STV. lol I dont know what came up but I said something to the effect of NO I need someone to MOUNT me! OH GOD I don't know what i was thinking...(it wasn't meant to be gross, but everything i say seems to come out that way :hanky: )
