Can I have some input how the 25man guilds do their dkp for their tanks? Since so many tanks are required for different bosses? So do u guys still find one person & default everything to him first? or fair bid...

Let the DKP decide. It is easiest that way. Main tank gets no priority over anyone else in my guild set-up. About the only advantage they have is that they raid more frequently, so they see more drops.

If gear is clearly tank gear (such as Aldori Legacy Defender), then we mark it as such and only the "pro" tanks get priority. Any warrior, druid or paladin that regularly tanks raid bosses gets first pick on these items unless they have a large negative score. Other items that are possibly tank items (such as Bloodmaw Magus-Blade), have no priority.

Back in MC days the MT got priority on the crafted gear, but we still charged points for that so he had a large negative score when it came to trying to get other items.

We prioritise gear to roles, so that a druid tank, and a warrior tank have the same priority on a tanking ring/trinket, but they both have higher priority than a dps warrior, or a resto druid, or a paladin (we dont have dedicated paladin tanks, as they arent really viable for anything past kara).

In a similar fashion, rogues and dps warriors would get priority on melee dps weapons over tanking (prot) warriors and shadowpriests/mages/warlocks get priority on damage cloth over any holy priests.

Its just common sense basically. But it works.
With regards to priority within classes, we basically use a fixed price bidding system, and encourage people to discuss within their classes who is going to bid. Everything is done in class channels, and dkp is only really used to decide which class items go to, or to decide between two members or the same class if they cant agree on who it would be the biggest upgrade for.

We also have a 'loot forcing' rule, which means that any item thats an upgrade for someone in the raid will NOT get sharded. If no one bids, then the class leaders are asked to check their classes to ensure its not an obvious upgrade for anyone. If its an upgrade for someone, they are forced to take it, and pay full dkp price for it.

If its not an upgrade for anyone (HI2U GENERIC ENHANCEMENT SHAMAN BELT #032) then it will be bidded on as 'offspec loot' at half dkp value, and people that werent allowed to bid on it the first time round, get an opportunity to bid on the item AT HALF PRICE. This keeps people happy, and means that if we need someone in a offspec role at any point (eg if we need 3 feral druids for a fight) then they have decent gear for it, without gimping their DKP for their main role items too much.

hmm.. because I was reading somewhere in other wow forums that SSC requires like 3 PROT tank & other offtanks with any spec. Then im like thinking... 3 prot tanks? -.- how to decide whos the MT between them & stuff? Hmm...

Why have an MT?

Why not just have 3 well geared Prot tanks, any of whom can MT...

Hehe, i dont like that tbh, rather let the item go to bank as voids for enchants.. If you force ppl to take a loot, they "theoreticly" cant save for that staff/robe/whatever they really got on top of there prio list, when it drops

but i agree on the rest you wrote :)

Thats kind of the point :)

The idea is that everyone is taking even the minor upgrades, that way the entire raid improves in quality. No one should have anything on their priority list other than 'upgrading their gear'. Obviously you have the few people that are hoping for item xx to drop, but they dont get to save for that one big upgrade.

If say 25 items drop over the course of a few weeks. Each of them is 'only' a 4 dps upgrade so they all shard, the raid doesnt improve in power at all. At the end of that the [IMBA STAFF OF OWNAGE] drops and is a 20 dps upgrade, 11 casters fight it out for it, one of them gets it. Thats a 20 dps raid upgrade.

If all those 25 shards had been forced onto people, thats a 100 dps upgrade to the raid, 5 times what the imba staff would have been. Then you get the 20 dps upgrade on top of that. In addition to which, if items are selling, then people are earning more dkp (hi2u zero sum) so you gain the dkp you've been forced to spend back faster. It also means that we cant have anyone in **** gear holding the raid back, as they'll all be working to upgrade it ASAP so they dont have to end up with stuff being forced.
