I was recently asked by a chap I met on the Zepellin to Undercity why I didn't have my weapons enchanted. The simple answer is that I am completely clueless about how to go about getting enchantments, what enchantments I can use, how much I should be paying, what are the best choices for my class (Rogue).

Can anybody provide me with an idiot's guide to getting your phat lewts enchanted?

Wow I'm so glad you posted this! I've been wondering this for a while as well.

Step 1: Use your favorite search engine to list out all the enchants (http://www.wowwiki.com/Enchantment)

Step 2: Find the enchant you want, look at the mats.

Step 3: Go to your AH and buy the mats.

Step 4: Spam "LF enchanter for [insert enchant name] Will tip!"

Step 5: meet the enchanter, hand over your mats, then put your item in the "will not be traded spot" along with your tip. (low level enchants a 15s-1g would be nice high level...up to 30g)

ta-dah there is your enchantment!

For rogues, fiery weapon is a cheap and effective leveling enchantment.

actually depending on your level fiery might be a bit expensive. seems like on all the servers i've played it has ran between 20-30g. that would be a bit much for say a lvl 20 who isn't going to be using that particular weapon too long. when i have leveled melee class toons in the past i have just gotten +3 damage to 1h on them. i think the name is just "striking", not sure though. there is greater striking and others too. but say you have a dagger that is 1.5 second and 15dps. that +3 damage would give you 2 more dps. no biggie but in a 2hr session of grinding that is alot of additional damage you caused and saved u at least a little time. if your a skinner and are going to be fighting beasts alot while grinding, grab the beastslayer enchant. dirt cheap and a bit more effective on beasts at least.

Best way to go about enchanting at any level that you plan to leave (aka. lvl up from):
Don't borther. Sure, it's helpful to have and a crusader enchant in westfall is just.. superb..

But.

The price you have to pay to get enchants is equally extreme. To even get a Minor Beastslayer on my server you'll have to let got of 2-3g as the Strange Dust prices are rarely below 30s each. Now if you compare the damage gained from that (not that anyone gets minor beastslayer for the damage, but for it's glow) to what you'd be able to gain by spending 2-3g on some green you find on the AH..

What I usually do is keep my eye on the trade channel whenever I'm in a city, just in case there's someone training enchanting by handing them out for next to nothing. That's when enchanting is worth it.

Strange Dust is the green one, isn't it that comes off level 1 - 20 items roughly? You can buy that for 7s each at most Enchanting Vendors.

That's the ones.
I do, however, believe that there's a limit on how many you can buy, but now that you mention it I think I'll figure out what that limit is.. seems an easy way to make gold would be to pick some up whenever possible..

Limit is ludicrously low - between 1 and 3 usually, so you'll be looking at 60s profit maximum most of the time. But, going through the lower levels of enchanting I've found it useful to keep those guys in mind when you can't find enough to get that last point you need

How often does it reset?
An extra 60 silver per day never hurts, you never know when that last 1% is gonna make the difference between a flying mount and a day of grinding.

I don't know, I randomly pick up a few as they work out cheaper at the lower levels than buying a 15-20s green and disenchanting it. It's not quite as fast as running between the Auction House and Godan in the Drag.

imo.. dont bother getting enchants untill you are
a) sure you arent gonna level up and replace the item any time soon..
b) 70
c) rich.

my first ever enchant (on a lowbie char) was +7 damage on whirlwind axe as a level 34~ warrior, cause i knew that weapon would stay with me till the 40's.

my priest has most his gear enchanted (level 70 with lots of epics)

Just a note on this to ppl new to leveling enchanting . . . I came across a guy in SW yesterday who was leveling enchanting and asking everyone if they wanted one.

When I told him that he could constantly enchant the same <insert gear> with the same <insert enchant> over and over again to level more quickly. He was like no way!!!
I was like yup, all you have to do is click yes to the "do you want to replace +1 stam with +1 stam

I think I made his night . . .

So, If you can't give them away you can still level fairly quickly to the 100ish level

Or, you can start an enchanter yourself and just DE greens you pick up while leveling.

If you have a guild enchanter you could get one from them for just the cost of mats.

There's good karma for an enchanter to distribute free enchants to the lower levels. You might not go at it quite as fast, but people remember you.
