I understand the whole Night-Elf-females-are-a-bit-hoochie thing, but are Blizzard's developers all 14-year old boys at heart?
I'm in Blade's Edge yesterday turning in a quest and I see a pair of pants that have better stats than my current ones - so I pick those and put them on. I close the character window, look at my toon, and say, "Where'd the pants go?"

The solution is to equip a robe, cover up the dubious stripper/healer gear. In the meantime, a guild tabard will save a few blushes. There are some mageweave pants for low level casters which are even worse on female characters. I saw a draeni with it all hanging out the other day, and sighed inwardly, assuming it was on purpose, but a quick inspect revealed (ahem) that the shirt and pants actually had excellent stats for the level. Grumble.
However much you may or may not like the design of those items, it gets you an unwanted audience of eejits- so even if you're not puritanical, it's a big disadvantage.

my reason for wearing it is not because I want to stare at a night elf butt lol (thats what I have KCMA for) but because I think it's funny for a priest to be looking sexy. I don't know but thats why for me. lol

That is the honest to god some of the l33t3st tanking gear a pally can get at level 60, without raiding.
It didn't help that she named her toon Dreamly either.

As long as you can fend off the stupidos every time you go to a major city, it's fine :) My nelf priest wears long robes as a matter of course, my draeni shammy is lucky enough to have good sturdy armor too (though is a bit comic book hawt in enhancement gear- the first windfury crit usually clears that one up).

Muahaha, absolutely. When my shammy was fairly shiny and new, she needed to go and pick up loads of FPs, and so had to do the nekkid run thing (to avoid repair bills). "When you're a wolf, no-one minds that you're nekkid".

Just about every hat in the game looks daft- especially if the toon has horns or pointy earns (/crymore). The only ones I don't hide are crazy cyborg-looking engineering goggles.

I was annoyed the other way actually - I just made myself the Mageweave set for my troll priestess... the vest set (rather than the robe set) I think is supposed to look quite sexy for female characters... however, with these thighs and feet; no way
Edit: I thought this was going to be a thread about how annoying Warlock's imps are...

Suggest this doesn't represent the maturity level of the game designers so much as it does an appropriate awareness of one of their target market segments.

Catering to a bunch of horny guys is more like it...
I just LOL at some of the posts on these boards that imply that Blizzard designs everything with their employees interests in mind, e.g. "all the dev's play locks lol no wonder they are OP!!!!!!!1111111" Blizzard is a business...and a very successful one at that. Do some of their designers have the same interests as the people that play the game? Of course they do! But to suggest that they are catering to their own desires rather than the customers is a little short sighted.
xxlebox- this is not directed at you just a general frustration of mine.

Totally agree. A segment of the WoW population (not sure how much) likes to see scantily clad BE's. The rest of us prudes (yes, I am one) have to put up with the stripper gear.

I think I object much more to the size of the high-level gear. It doesn't bother me if some teenage boy wants to run his naked Belf about the place, it does annoy me that I'll end up duel wielding 2 axes that are bigger than me. And probably a really stupid colour.

I too have to say that I'm far less annoyed by half-naked elves/humans/whatnot than heavily armored tauren with shoulderpads big enough to fit in a gnome or two.

Aye bigger =! better. Surely we could have some really well designed yet simple and moderately sized gear. Mind, someone was flashing pics of the latest set of Warrior armour, that looked pretty cool. I feel sorry for the Warlocks and the stupid winged hat though.

As my roommate puts it, apparently, according to Blizzard, the only vulnerable spots on the female anatomy is the breasts and crotch area.
While on many races, this looks sexy, the problem is when you see what it looks like on gnomes. Gnome females, which look like little girls who started puberty a bit early, running around in clothing that I don't even think hookers would be caught on the street wearing. Suddenly, the "sexy" clothing that the female characters has, twists into some perverse... very disturbing thing.

What are you suggesting? Isn't the Felguard big and buff and topless? And the imp ... well ... not so big and buff .. but you get what I'm saying!
Given the actual lore on Succubi, I would say Blizzard did a fair job for a creature built around lust and temptation.
I've worn the Black Mageweave set for a bit, and it's Outlands counterpart. Sometimes I just want something 'sexy' for my character to wear, rather than some volumous robe.
As to the various armour pieces, and what they cover ... especially the plate, I see it as a bit tongue-in-cheek, given the classic 'gals in chainmail bikinis' that pervade various fantasy genres. Reminds me of some comic I saw years ago, with this busty warrior woman in the skimpiest of chainmail bikinis, with dozens of arrows just embedded in the bra and panties, saying "Good thing I was wearing my armour!"

If you never worked in an IT department, especially in a software development team, most employees are male. I'm in a team of 12, and not one is a girl.
