View Full Version : Switching from Aldor to Scryer or vice versa, do you keep rewards?

Say I get to Aldor Exalted and learn the Golden Spellthread recipe, and also get the shoulder enchant.

Now I want Scryer Exalted so I can learn the Runic Spellthread recipe.

If I switch, and lose my exalted status with Aldor, will I still be able to craft the Golden Spellthread and keep the shoulder enchant, or will I lose them once I lose the status?

I've already got about a thousand Basilisk Eyes.

And I like killing the elves in Netherstorm since they drop good loot.

You'd still be able to make the spellthread. The enchant on your shoulders will stay there. However if for some reason the pattern or the inscription were in your inventory, once you lose exalted you won't be able to use them. If you bought Vindicator's Brand (you seem to be a caster but bear with me), you wouldn't be able to use it since you need Aldor - Exalted to equip it.

You'll need 1344 basilisk eyes which means killing nearly 4000 basilisks.

Edit: oh you have a lot of eyes already :)

Further edit: you could always try it. Turn in enough eyes just to get revered with the aldor and see what happens to your shoulders. My money's on the enchant staying there but you won't be able to buy new ones.

Yep, I'm a caster. Shadow Priest, to be specific. Right now I have the +18 Spell Power +10 Spell Crit Strike Rating on my shoulders from the Greater Inscription you get at exalted. And I'll probably be keeping these shoulders forever (Frozen Shadoweave), so I don't necessarily care if I'm not able to get that inscription ever again.

And I've already learned all the recipes I want from Aldor (everything I can learn I've bought and "used"), so apparently they will not disappear and I will still be able to make them.

And no, I haven't bought any weapons or equippable items, nothing appeals to me on the Aldor side. Why I went Aldor I'll never know.

This might be a question for a GM to answer. I think it would warrant a ticket because it's a game mechanics issue.

I tried that.

Nice answer indeed - maybe u should test it with another char (if u have one)

Have u tried asking on the official forums?

copy your character to the PTR and test it there? I've tested a few new specs that way.

^ Now *that* is a good answer.

The PTR is a great idea... better do it quickly, because I suspect the patch will be out RSN. Another idea would be to turn in 1 set of eyes to tick you to revered. If you still have your learned patterns from exalted, you're most likely good.

I can't imagine that they'd remove a learned pattern from you because you no longer have the rep it required to buy it. Who knows though... stranger things have happened =]

1-you keep all the things you learned..

2-you keep all things that are enchanted... (ie enchants stay)

3-you cant use things in your inventory that require certain rep level.

this is all speculation.. im 90% sure on 1 and 2, and 50% sure on #3.

#3 since with items bought pre-honor i could still use stuff that required blood guard even tho i was back down to grunt... (i couldnt buy new stuff tho)

That's a good point. People who used to grind to HWL/GM with the old honor system would be walking around with HWL/GM gear when they were much lower ranks.

Who knows ... ;)
