I havn't been around wow for long but it seems like Bliz loves world events when they do large patches. Does anyone have any rumors or thoughts on this or am I out of my mind?

They probably would have tested it by now on the PTRs...

I would ask this: Since AQ gates opening and the subsequent crashes...were there any world events? There certainly was none when the Dark Portal opened? Apart from more crashes from lots of ppl in one location?

Det: There were loads of demons over the place, invading IF and the like. Isn't that a world event? Also, the skellingtons that spawned in places when the AD stuff was released? They're world events, no?

Thats on the lines of what I was thinking...

There was a weird apparition thing in stormwind the other night near the mailbox, could it be related or is that normal?

Ah, yes indeed...Lord Kazzak running lose and all. Kinda had a "half-arsed" feeling for me though. Would have been cool to see him walk through the Black gate to Outland (and trample all of us waiting to get in as well  )...and the Scourge invasion was just over one day after a laugheable number of spawn points was killed :(

So...if there would be an event, it would be an "Outland-World" event?

Probably just a stealthed Night Elf heading for the top of the mailbox

As to the world events - I'd love to see one. While I was around for the release of TBC, my schedule at the time didn't allow me to log in for long enough to actually see the big K while he was demolishing Booty Bay.

It was an NPC just standing on the steps to the bank, you could click on it and it would turn to you and say something (can't remember what, but it was kind of cryptic). There were a bunch of people standing around it trying to figure out what it was... Definetly not a stealthed player though.

Heh, was probably the image of Archmage "somethingorother", somewhat long quest line in netherstorm where you use an item to summon his image to talk to him. No offense but we get bored and like to mess with lowbies, personally I love to get a transporter malfunction and hang out in SW as a Tauren mage.

I would say that childrens week was a world event but for it to be related to the release of the black temple...hmmm.

Yeah, that sounds like what it was. And no offense taken :)

I don't think there will be a world event for this patch. Illidan's agents are already everywhere in Shadowmoon Valley and going into the Black Temple is really just you going and seeking out Illidan, not a result of trying to see what lies behind unopened gates in ruins or stopping a mass invasion like naxx.

I'd like to see a world event relating to Hyjal though. Possibly along the lines of Azeroth zones changing in some way every few hours to reflect what might come to be if hyjal isn't saved properly....like when Homer sneezed in prehistoric times after he went back in time using his toaster.

Yes, the scourge invasion for the Naxx patch. Dread lords bothering major cities, a flying necropolis problem, undead popping up in some odd places.

It was much better designed than the aq40 one though, which pushed servers into a downward spiral of crash and DB rollback- you got to run across the same bit of desert endlessly, very groundhog day :)

Crashes or no, we still got the first Collossus kill on the server though, using a massive naked chain pull to the NPC Warmasters- kept it tapped and got to loot it, yay!

*nods*

I was going to say the Naxx invasion event too. That was a really nice event lasting some time and nicely spread out over many areas.

Excellent to AD rep too + some nice rewards - 3 piece armour sets to help kill undead and some consumables too I think.

Aye, it was hilarious- especially the massive elites bothering major cities. The Dread Lord (or whatever it was) that took up residence in the front porch of IF was hilarious- the skeletons were knee-deep. For some reason, it wasn't quite so unsettling to see elite undead tearing around Undercity.

Since it wasn't every (then) 60 on the server in the same zone, it scaled a lot better- as you say, it was spread out. I'd not mind a few more designed along those lines.

the aq events sounded really cool, and i never mind a server crash it makes thing seem exciting and big, i missed aq and naxx and Scourge invasion.
dark portal "event" with kruul was nice but seemed kinda less involved.
Bring back the legendary mounts!

Lol, yeah this was mostly likely the image of the Archmage - I really need to go do this in IF or something to see what people do. Might be amusing for a bit.

the aq opening on my server was like a slide show with a 5min gap between each frame.

AQ on my server was a great laugh. We opened the gates at like 3am though, so all the lowbies had gone to bed, and we actually got to experiance the even firsthand with very little lag. We got a guild raid up for the collossus then joined with a few other guilds farming the mobs in silithus for rep and epics. I managed to get my first and second brood of nozdormu rings that first night. :D (had to go inside the instance to kill one mob IIRC to tip our rep over into the next bracket). Stayed up till 10am doing it, then had a few hrs sleep and got up to go and play in AQ20 in the morning (called in sick to work).
