On 3/21/2007 I got the crazy idea to level a warrior to level 65. I currently had one that was 33, and did not want to spend the time going from 33 to 65 myself, so I was tempted to pay someone. I did some research, found a website called deleted. They charged me 165.00 to level my character for me. Having not done this before, I was unaware of the consequences, at the time, of getting caught doing this. So, as of 3/28/2007 my account was banned. I had my 70 Rogue, Ahloysis, on the account. Probably not the smartest idea to have my main character on the account that I planned to have powerleveled, but live and learn.

Blizzard sent me a email:
Account Name: REVO
Offense: Use of Third Party Automation Software
This account has been found to have employed third party software designed to automate many aspects of the World of Warcraft game play experience. Such software runs contrary
to the essence of World of Warcraft and provides an advantage over other players. In addition, use of this software can lead to exploitation and destabilization of the World of Warcraft server economy. As such, this account has been closed and will not be reopened under any ircumstances. The recurring subscription on the account has been disabled to prevent further charges.
Please review the World of Warcraft Terms of Use at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html, which you accepted when you installed World of Warcraft and established the account(s). Section 2, Paragraph C details the limitations of game play modifications and use of any third-party or “packet sniffing” software. In addition, Section 3, Paragraph C, parts iii and iv restrict the use of any hack, scripting or macroing software which obtains information from World of Warcraft to gain a competitive advantage over other players.

Immediately after getting this email, I was shocked and stunned. I have never done anything wrong on my account ever before. I've been a active person in the WoW community since day 1. I sent a "dispute" email to Blizzard attempting to get my account re-enabled. However, apon them doing furthure research, the company I paid, did a lot worse things on my account then I could ever imagine. They were spamming people to buy gold, they sent mail out to people asking them to visit their website. When I was told this, I remembered, I visited this website after receiving an email ingame. Again, the company name is deleted" I strongly urge everyone to never pay for powerleveling, make john do it.

So, after spending 165.00 on a powerleveling, losing my level 70 rogue, and all my gold on that account... I learned my lesson. Still what bothers me most, is that I was unable to get a refund from the company, they were a scam. They used a bot to level my account, and used me as a tool for their advertisement. what's worse, they have been using the customers' characters to farm gold no matter they powerlevel the characte manually or by making use of bots, and finally sell the gold to other customer. That's why their prices are cheaper than others and you got nothing while your characterhave been leveled up! WMFG!!!!!

Please take what I am attempting to tell you right now seriously. A lot of people are getting their accounts banned for buying gold, powereleveling, and much much more. Blizzard is making it a point of anything costing money outside of the game, is going to get you banned.

Thanks for your time, don't laugh at me!!

Yik

Not laughing at you, sorry this happened to you, and sorry you didn't realize/read the rules - I know they're long and boring, but they're there for a reason.

Are you planning on starting another account? It's a shame you lost your main that you leveled fair and square, but that's the way they have to do it to keep the rules. I hope others learn their lesson from your mistake and loss.

edit: No reason to link the site in your post. Your advice to stay away from these things in general should be plenty, no matter how much you hate that particular company.

I call ad/spam.

Note the little mistakes in the 'copy/paste' of the 'blizzard email'.

/reported.

*edit* Why would a powerlevelling company post an ad and mention that it will get your account banned?

Well.. everyone knows it's wrong, so by doing this, the message appears to be from a genuine person.

*edit again to avoid bump* Also, why wait 2 months to sign up here and give us this 'urgent warning'.

Ok, i'll start off being mean, but keep reading.

You had it coming. Like every child dead on havin a look at that bright hot red thing and trying to grab it, you got burned. What's done is done, no point bashing or name-callling.

What matters is what you will do now. There's a nuance between an ignorant and an idiot. An ignorant will try to grab the flame, burn himself and learn not to stray close to the flame. An idiot will grab the flame, burn himslef and keep grabbing to "beat" the fire.

besides, I'll stray a little from the party line: If no-one ever tried anything, how could we tell the right from the wrong? Ok, the ToS and Eula, my bad ;)

There's no point in beating you with a stick, you've been beaten enough and you've learnt your lesson the hard way.

Perhaps this thread should be made a sticky for all current and new members.

We'll let's burn the links and keep the story! Nothing like a good cold corpse to remind people that that DANGER! sign means something.

...

You are not REALLY sorry, are you? If this happened, the OP has been stupid in the first place for doing this and is double stupid for linking to a powerlevel site (means he didnt read the WoW rules AND the forum rules.) Shame on him twice.

Reported for good measure, and maybe a double ban teaches the OP something...finally?

Maybe a smart competition for another power leveling company,
they are eleminating that company by giving negative advertisement on that
i hardly believe the intimacy of that post

You registered specifically to tell us this story so I was a little suspicious when I saw your links to just such a company and an affiliate service, not 10 minutes after agreeing to our terms not to link to those sites. But then if this story is genuine reading terms of use isn't your strong point. Ignorance isn't an excuse though and that's why Blizzard canceled you account. I've removed the links that break the forum rules, please don't do it again.

I'll leave the rest of the post up just in case there are any members left who are still not aware that's how these things work.

Thank you Yik for taking the time to tell us of your plight. Everyone knows the risks but it's reaffirming to hear of somebody who ended up with the severest of misfortunes even the first time trying it.

A lot of people powerlevel, but a post like this can help those who are on the fence about it to lean in the right direction.

i agree, you get what you deserve.

Guild mate of mine exchanged accounts whit what he called a " rl friend " of his. 6 momths later, after he played a hunter to lvl 70 on his "new" acount, his old "friend" obviously retrieved it via the secret question you set yourself when you create the acount. That was yesterday, and i told him the same i write here :

Blizzard made theyr ToS and Eula for a resaon, you break it, you deal whit the consequences.

I was in a group with a lv 70 warrior that was tanking... this guy had too have just got his account from the PL service... The mage and I started joking about which one of us was going to tank the next pull... right before we gave up that run... I'm a lousy enough player after 70 levels as it is... I can't imagine trying to start at 70.

To be fair to poor crappy players like myself. :) I'll pretty much have leveled my warrior to 59 now without ever having tanked an instance. So I am sure I will suck at it when I start. But at least I'll warn people.

I just don't sense enough urgency in the title of this thread.
It needs a few more exclamation points.

but yah the guy got what he deserved, and if any of youse have ever bought gold/leveling you deserve the same. i blame the customers as much or maybe even more than the sellers.

If you are going to do it, start a new account.

and just pay $15 extra for a month with the new character on it, and after you get to lvl 70, try transfer the character if you want him to be on the same account. That way, if you get ban, it will only be 1 character.
