i have a lvl 40 BE Wl on a pve realm and i really want to experience a pvp realm now. so a few questions (some are more warlock related, but pvp in general).

1) how often do you get attacked or are involved in an attack with the other faction in pvp realms? does it make it worth switching if you could simply do BGs and stuff? or does pvp add a unique element to the game play?

2) i have heard that orcs are more offensive and undead more defensive in playstyle. so for pvp, is it better to have an offensive or defensive mindset? and where does the BE fit into all this?

3) is it worth rerolling a new pvp toon just for the pvp element? took me about 6 days to reach 40 (first character), so i could do it now in less time.

thx in advance for the input. Horde ftw!

1> anytime you are grinding or questing, someone from the other faction could come by and kill you. Yes, it adds an unique element, because if you just grind along, someone can easily just wait for you to be low health and kill you easily, or you could be cautious and not get nearly the xp/hr that you would get. It also gets you in the mindset to not be caught in a bad situation (aka low health, or 3 mobs on you when you know you can take them, but would rather "play it safe").

2> Not sure what you mean here, orc's main racial as related to pvp is a 25% stun resist, while undead's main racial is a fear immunity button. Also, blood elves can steal mana and silence, both great against casters and paladins, , and tauren get 5% more life (which is huge come level 70, considering that 5% of 10K is 500 more life) and war stomp, which is an aoe stun. Trolls are without a doubt worse off than the others as far as racials, which is probably the main reason they are the least played class in the game.

3> For me, pve servers are no fun at all, just the idea of going into gadget and not being able to attack the other faction doesn't sit well with me, and while it can be frustrating at times, I believe that I have a ton more fun being able to attack the other faction as I please.

For the Horde!

Orc racial has been 15% for some time.

While you can't transfer from pve > pvp, I would give pvp server a shot just to say you did it.. I leveled a rogue to 70 and a mage to 63 on a pvp server, but then decided it was just adding more time to stuff I wanted to do so I transferred them to pve. I was tired of corpse running, hiding, getting revenge.. I don't get these people who get off on being stalked, takes all kinds I guess. I've noticed quite a bit more trash talking and just plain nonsense on pvp servers...which makes sense considering the environment you have to deal with.

Different racial playstyles depend only on the people controlling them, but this is wow and it will always be full of generalizations.

1) I think it really depends on where you are questing. On my server, the biggest PvP hotspots are Hillsbrad and Stranglethorn Vale. If you are questing in these areas you are 99.99% of the time going to come into contact with opposing faction. Other areas may be less likely but still a high probability.

2) IMO, the undead's racial ability to break fear, charm, and sleep is by far the best racialy ability

3) Yeah, I think playing on a PvP server adds a huge element to the game. Of course, the first time you get camped by an enemy many level's higher than you, you may disagree, but aside from the rare instance you get camped, PvP servers are a blast, since you are always looking over your shoulder, wondering if someone is sneaking up on you.

PvE is referred to as a carebear server...i started out on PvE and LOVED it, but i heard all this talk about PvP and how great it was and to be honest, i was getting bored with PvE, i didn't see what the point was on getting to end game, woo hoo raids and instances and that's it, but as far as PvP goes, there's just so much more to do, and there is more of a point to it, IMO.

I don't like getting ganked, which happens alot in STV and Hillsbrad, BUT it is worth it when you get a kill in on it. And as for the comment of being "stalked", you are never stalked unless you let yourself be.

Give it a try, it will be worth it!

I play around an hour a day on average (Leaning towards more over the weekend) and have an average of about 10 honourable kills per day. There's probably around 4 to 6 deaths per day on average too, so I'd say around 15 battles a day on average. Usually those are territorial disputes - when grinding mobs I don't want an Alliance player competing for that rare drop we need for the quests so I'll kill him until he leaves.

Does PvP add a unique element to the game? Yes, it most definately does. It adds that random feeling of danger, of creeping death so to speak. Intense, mad carnage is only a few moments away.

On Saturday I was questing in Searing Gorge and as I was trotting along on my Felsteed towards the Outhouse with the bundle of silk cloth the poor guy locked in there was asking for a level 70 Alliance Warlock ganked my little level 52 Blood Elf Warlock. You can't fight off +1000 Shadow Damage at that level. But, a quick report on LocalDefense got a level 70 Orc Rogue involved and a 47 Blood Elf Rogue. We killed the Warlock and his two level ~48 buddies, but he called help in on Local Defense which saw a 70 Priest, a 70 Hunter and a few others join in. We called in help and got two 70 Mages. And so it carried on until in a quiet, back corner of Searing Gorge we had a massive melee brawl with the graveyard only a short distance away. For about an hour it was just mad, mad melee and spells raining down. Lots of honour to be had.

You don't get that on a PvE server. You also don't get the ganks, camps and other annoyances, but there are always ways to escape those.

2) i have heard that orcs are more offensive and undead more defensive in playstyle. so for pvp, is it better to have an offensive or defensive mindset? and where does the BE fit into all this?

Playstyle comes from the player. You're Horde. Attack at will. The Alliance is frightened of us.

3) is it worth rerolling a new pvp toon just for the pvp element? took me about 6 days to reach 40 (first character), so i could do it now in less time.

I would say yes. Mainly because you cannot transfer from PvE to PvP

For the Horde!

Their skill bonus to bows makes them boss hunters and their berzerking ability makes them clutch when things NEED to get out FAST.

Once you PvP experience, you'll find that the questions you are raising are not as important to winning as 1) experience of the members in your raid grp or battlegroup, 2) the avg lvl of the players on both sides, and 3) your first impressions of the battles winning/losing.

I know excellent PvE players who play PvP (Alliance) and hate it. The reason? ... They lost every time they played. If the players on your server generally have other priorities besides winning, then your honor pts and badge count will suffer and you may become frustrated. (Mostly Alliance on my server).

On the other hand, players who know the winning strategiesand how the layouts of the BGs affect your strategies, and they teach you (directly or indirectly), you can have a great time. If your grps are planning battles and winning, the superior equipment you can get as rewards will come quickly, enhance your play and it will not matter much what class character you have or what server you are on.
