New alchemy discoveries in 2.1

In the patch notes, there was listed there is a new kind of pot available to discover when making greater protection pots. has anyone discovered one yet?

i would have to say no and i made about 100 elixirs and pots last night lol

i did discover the flask of arcane protection, not to useful, but I am asking about the new type of cauldron pots discovered from making protection pots

In order to discover Cauldrons you have to make the Major Protection potion of that element. People are reporting that they are getting discoveries quite fast.

I discovered Flask of Fortification (or whatever) making Elixir of Healing Power last night.

Can you believe i made another 300 pots last night with still no discovery.Another alchemist friend came on last night for the first time after the patch made 30 pots and discovered 2 things.I was ready to give up after that.

Discovered Flask of Arcane Fortification

After only 8 adept pots.

Requires Level 65
Use: Increases the player's resistance to arcane spells by 35 and health regeneration by 20 every 5 seconds for 2 hrs. Counts as both a Battle and Guardian elixir. This effect persists through death.

1x Fel Lotus
3x Mana Thistle
7x Netherbloom
1x Imbued Vial

What you said about the cauldrons are true. I discovered all of them after 4-6 attempts of making the potions. They are very quickly learned.

ok starting wondering if mine is bugged lol
i must have made over a 1000 pots/elixirs since the patch came out and still haven't discovered anything.I talked to other alchemists on my server and they have discovered 2 to 4 thigns already.Thats why at first i was thinking it was maybe a level thing since i'm only at 60 but i get told no lol

You need to be making the new outland potions to discover anything.

@devil , blizzard states itself now that its still a random chance. Meaning some people will never discover anything.

Personally i just discovered a couple after powering herb alch.

While making 20 greater agility elixers i got flask of arcane fort on elixer 10, and the shadow version on elixer 11.

thanks i gave up and just sold all my herbs so i can get money for epic mount
but i will try today.I am trying to get honored at some factions in the outlands to learn new pots so hopefully that will help in the furture lol

Are all discoveries based on making a certain pot? Or only the new 2.1 ones?

I am so pumped after discovering the Flask of Relentless Assault last night. My guild hunters were foaming at the mouth for it. I forgot what specific pot I was making...all I know is that I decided to completely use up all my herb stash to free up some bank space.:laugh:

Devilwillcry, i got the same problems as you :( i've made over a hundred elixers and havn't discovered one thing. Not gonna hurry and buy x herbs cause it's a random chance anyway and will learn them in due time hehe.

And they actually need to be potions from TBC recepy's yea, from what i read about it (tried making 80 Artha's tear and 60 elixer of greater defence also besided the 100 tbc elixers also).

As long as you are making TBC potions it does not matter which ones you are making, you will discover something eventually.

There are exceptions however, confirmed by Blizzard.

Making the TBC Elemental Protection potions will enable you to discover the equivalent Cauldron and at a much higher discovery rate. Anecdotal evidence suggests as high as a 20% chance.

Note that you only get the equivalent Cauldron for the protection you are making so no hoping for Cauldron of Shadow Protection when making say Major Nature Protection potions.

Further anecdotal evidence suggests that making Flasks also gives you a higher chance to discover things, this has not AFAIK been confirmed by Blizzard however.

well after making 800 potions 2 nights ago and getting nothing i dropped alchemy and went to mining.I was going to go to mining and smithing once i hit 70 to make my epics this just pushed me into it alittle faster.Wha i spent on herbs that i didn't have i could have bought my epic mount twice lol

Just like slot machines in Vegas, anytime you have a low probability of something happening, there will be some "lucky" people who will win after a few tries while lots of other people won't see success for a long time. The good news is that supposedly the chance to discover something is much higher than it was before the patch. The bad news is that it's still pretty darned low. So if you don't get one right off the bat, don't worry too much. You'll get one . . . eventually :wink:

Can someone list the major protection potion which would give you a chance on discovering cauldrons??

Not sure whether I have all recipes atm.

Yeah there's good and bad luck. I've discovered both arcane and shadow fort flasks... and I've made under 100 pots/elixirs since the patch came out. A guildie of mine has all the new flasks/pots and 1 cauldron.

Anyone use a cauldron yet? Are the pots unique? Could I drop a cauldron and pick up all 25? I know they're conjured and will go away like mage food/water.

I created 40 adepts elixr and 10 or so fel strength - some fortification pots and a couple of others and discovered a flask of fortication about 50 pots in

right now i am up to 3 flasks, arcane, shadow, and mp5, and also discovered a new pot that yields health and mana, but requires 2 mana thistle making it somewhat useless.

still hoping for the AP flask!

I managed to discover Transmute Primal Mana -> Primal Fire last night while doing a Transmute, which leads me to ask:

Can I only discover Flask and Potion recipes from making regular Elixirs & Potions or can I discover Flasks from doing Transmutes as well?

Major Protection (by using primals) you can discover cauldrons
Transmutes by doing transmutes

So far as I know, you can only discover recipes by making stuff of the same type, i.e. transmutes from transmutes, Flasks from Flasks/Elixirs. I don't think there are any discoverable potions though, so I'm guessing you can't discover anything by making potions. Not completely sure on that though.
