View Full Version : When you knock a rogue out of stealth...

I'm a 70 feral druid and there's something I noticed a long time ago and have just gotten used to but now I'm curious if anyone else experiences this:
I am stealthed and I detect another rogue. I select the rogue and pounce him. As soon as I've executed my pounce, the rogue disappears completely for a fraction of a second or so and then reappears unstealthed. Has anyone else, druids doing the same thing or anyone else knocking a rogue out of stealth, noticed that as soon as you get them they get unselected and disappear for a moment?
This is ALWAYS how I open on a rogue when I plan on keeping him as my target for a little bit, so I'm not really sure if the same thing happens if I do a different move. I'm not even completely sure that this happens every time, but it does happen a majority of the time.
Perhaps it is just the nature of pounce and somehow it doesn't unstealth them until the DOT ticks?

Hey
I havent played my Druid in awhile (Still at mates with no WoW  )
It could be lag but im not sure on who's end.
So im thinking you pounce, the server doesnt register the innitial pounce damage so the rogue is still in stealth but a second later the server registers that you pounced him and the rogue appears? :undecided:
Its a possibility..

Happens to me as well when I open vs another rogue. Strange bug. I think it might be related so some verification that has to take place server side?

Yeah I was thinking it as something like that. I just find it a very strange bug because I "see" them stealthed then when I open on them they completely disappear for a fraction of a second.
Not too terrible, but it forces me to retarget them which is the bad part. I have had it when two enemies were very close to each other that I lost my original combo point from the pounce because when they disappeared and I hit my mangle button, it auto targeted the other enemy player.
I guess it would make sense that it's somesort of verification issue.

is pounce a DoT spell? if so...does it register for you on the initial hit, or is it like most DoT spells ive encountered and wait for the first tick? this may be the reason...try opening with something else and see what happens

Opening with something else tends to have fatal results.

Pounce is a stun that happens to have a bleed effect attatched to it. It's sort of like a rogue's cheapshot, but with a bleed effect. I believe that the bleed effect doesn't register until the first tick.

It's a bug that affects all stealthed players. I know this for a fact because the exact same thing happened to me last night when I caght a Druid in Stealth. Cheap Shot him, it lands, he disappears and I lose the target. I had to manually reselect him when he finally became visible, but the time that took did murder to my combo-point generation.

i dunno...i did some bgs yesterday, and when i opened with SW pain, it wouldnt pop them out of stealth completely until first tick, but if i hit smite, out they came right away... i think it might have to do with the ticks

From a rogue's point of view:
When I get hit, it seems that I have a half a second more of stealth...almost like a "fade-in" effect. I have often had cases where I was hit by a DOT or AOE and still able to get off a cheap shot after the damage tick, if it happened to be timed only a split second after. It almost seems that the server doesn't register that I am unstealthed right away. I have had this happen to me in reverse as well, where I CS another rogue and he still manages to CS me. I turn around and we are both stunned somehow. This happened just last night in Halaa.
On my shammy I always pull them out with a nice earth shock and they never disappear... maybe i'm just weird.
Definately weird .. Flame shoock for the DoT or Frostshock for the slow.
Earthshock = weird :)
