well i quit about a year ago, just got tbc recently. Back when I played, i made alot of money sending all the green items my 60 would find to a low level alt, to disenchant. Made much more money selling the essences and !#!* it got, then just selling the green items.
Well I've been playing tbc a few days, and jus been sending all my greens to an alt to d/e. I log in today to do it, and it says his enchanting skill is not high enough to d/e the item? They are 60+ greens mostly, found in the outlands.
I don't remember this happening before...is this a new thing Blizz put in to stop it or something? if so thats pretty dumb :|

Yea, dont know how long ago but each lvl green has a disenchanting skill requirement. So for a lvl 60+ green you would need to have a skill 250+ (just an estimate) and so on and so on for the 10-20 greens 20-30 greens 30-40 greens etc.

Most of the TBC greens require enchanting of 275 or better to DE. A few are 225.

This thread (http://forums.worldofwar.net/showthread.php?t=387179&highlight=disenchant) discusses the levels needed to disenchant various items.
The levels required to disenchant items was brought in to bring the subskill in line with the rest of professions. It's not like you can skin Outland creatures with skill 1 Skinning, or mine Fel Iron with skill 1 Mining. Now it just means if you want full use of a skill, you have to take the time to skill it up.

You can also find an Enchanting skill up guide here (http://forums.worldofwar.net/showthread.php?t=369587). (Sticky in the Professions forums) It makes it very easy to get up to the required enchanting level.

your alts just have to be level 60ish
your alts just have to be level 60ish
Not true. In theory you can DE any 60+ item starting at level 35 since you can max your enchanting to 300 via Artisan. In my case, I hit 300 Enchanting at level 38, but I know I was DEing level 69 items and they required 275 Enchanting only.

Indeed, level 70 items need 275 enchanting to be disenchanted. Thus, a level 35 (that can go up to 300) can disenchant any item in the game.
Off topic, but hey what the heck, for prospecting (also a decent money maker), you need a level 50 in order to be able to prospect adamantite ore, since you need more than 300 in jewelcrafting and that is only obtainable at 50.
EDIT: Just to add that I fully support this decision, since my old enchanter worked his butt on levelling enchanting and seen as d/e is among our biggest source of income, I've always seen it kinda unfair that anyone could have a level 1 doing it.
