Ok,

Im going to play WoW again after a 6 month break. Damn, can't wait to start again.
Though, I'm feeling like a nub again since tbc came out. So many things changed and was added to the game that I feel like I have to explore everything again. Instances that I don't even know the name of, and, that's why I'm on this forum, new PvP systems and options.

I noticed (when I watch my brother play his account) that there are a lot of level 70 having the so called 'Gladiator' set. So at first I thought it was a dungeon set, but after I thottbotted it, it seemed to be a PvP-set.

From the ''Arena''. Right... Obviously I'd never heard from it, so can anyone explain what and where this place is. I'd also figured out (...) that you get these arena points to buy your Gladiatorstuff. I was wondering, and this is my main question: How long does it take to get, let's say, 1500 Arenapoints?

Looking at the amount of players that have this set, it shouldnt be very hard to get at least one epic from the Arena, or does it take alot of hours per day to achieve my purples?

Thanks.

The Arena is standalone BGs for teams of 2, 3 or 5 man. They have separate, and better rewards than the honorbought PvP items.

Arena is more competitive than BGs, and it introduces a ranking system to your team. You start out with a rank of 1500, and everytime you win or loose, you win or loose rank points. It is made so that the game will seek out teams to play against of similar rank that you have. If you loose to a team thats much higher rank than yours, they will win little rank points, and you will loose few. If you loose to someone with much lower rank, you will loose many rank points and they will gain many.

Every week, like in the old BG days, you rank is calculated into rank points, which you can buy stuff from, like honor points. The amount of "Honor" you get from a certain rank differs. From battlegroup to battlegroup, and from team size too. so a rank of 1700 in a twoman team, wont give as much as 1700 in a 5 man team.

But as an example, come wednesday you have 1500 rating, you might get 300points to buy stuff with. If you have 1800 rating, you might get 500 points. So even teams who loose more than they win will gather up points they can buy gear with, just takes them longer.

you can be in one twoman, threeman and a five man team, but only in one of each. You will then get points from the team you have made most points with for that week.

Edit: Missed the last question. To have you ranking calculated into rank points you need to have played at least 10 games during the week. Many players do these ten games, have a not so good rank, but steadily accumulate points. It will only take 30-40 minutes to play ten games, so no need for hourless grinds. Many infact choose to stop for the week if they have had a lucky streak and got a higher ranking than their ambitions were aiming for.
