Hey all
I joined a new raiding guild a couple of days ago and we plan to set our sights on Kara. Now basically what I want to know is what would you say is neccassary to get into Kara and perform well? What I mean by that is what is a good 10 man set up, what stats is ideal ie: Att Power, crit chance, Hit %, Spell Damage etc?
Anything basically that I need to know to organise a good raiding environment for our guild and to progress and a good steadily pace.
Thanks

Its hard to say what is exactly rerquired, depending on how dedicated your guild is i would suggest gear wise to run a lot of the high end 5 mans to gear everyone up, you should try and minimize the amount of quested greens.
Other then that gear is not the only problem, tactics and working well is, we walked into Kara 7 days after TBC release and 1 shotted 3 bosses on the first night.
Also if its all of the guilds first time in there i would suggest trying to optermise your raid group to be flexible enough to adapt to each boss or if you want to be really flash have people on standbye to swap out, but thats really not required. try and have a group set up something like:
1 warrior - Full PRot
1 Warrior - Half DPS/PRot 1 Druid Feral
1 Holy Priest
1 Shadow Priest
1 Warlock
1 Rogue
1 Hunter
1 Mage
2 Holy Paladins
Majority of the group can be swapped out but thats the group we ran it with and we cleared it first on our server.
I cant comment on Agi or Hit chance to much as i didnt really take much notice in Kara but all the Range Spell Damage players had over 800 + Dmg and around 15-20% chance to crit.

A GOOD moonkin that knows how to play the class (90% of moonkins are noobs)
a good moonkin can always be near/at the top DPS spot, and offers the 5% spell crit to pallies to regain mana, priests and shaman to give the tank inspiration (25% more armor).. crit to mages and locks...
not to mention innvervate.
but again I state there are few people that play a moonkin class properly...
a good raiding moonkin should be able to get around 850 Spell powa and 22%-25% spell crit pre-kara. I state that the druid will be wearing cloth gear, but we can only blame blizzard for not implimenting more caster-leather gear.

Where's the shammy love?!
Here it is
Our first raids had this setup:
2 Priests, 1 holy (me) and 1 shadow
2 Warriors, 1 full Prot and 1 Hybrid arms something
1 Rogue
1 Druid, Resto
1 Warlock
2 Shamans, 1 Resto and 1 Elemental
1 Open slot that either filled with another rogue, dps warrior, a mage or another warlock.
So the first time we downed Moroes, we did so without a paladin  and now we are at Shade of Aran.... anything's possible

Hey all
Thanks a lot for the replies.
So basically our goals are.... To get attuned, replace our quest reward gear with heroic drops (At this does it matter what speciific instance or is it all heroic instances?) Get the consumables ready, enchants, inscriptions and sockets?
From what I can see in our guild we have no Shadow Priests we have mainly 3 - 4 Holy/Disc. Is a shadow priest really nesseccary? Also what classes/talent spec would you say is really important to the success of the raid? Prot warrior and Holy priests are a given, but what else?
Thanks for the input

Shadow prests are not really required its just nice to have another shackle, holy paladins are a must, although im going to get shot down by the ret brigade for saying that. Not to sure for other specs just make sure no one has any really random specs that they are "testing".
And remember whiping is part of the learning Progress.

We had a druid main tank most of kara in a majority of our first runs so its definitely possible.

Any starting raid should expect people with the best PvE gear from TBC quest rewards and reasonable collections from the normal 5-mans.
You will upgrade fast.
