Hey all

When raid leaders or organisers post a raid for say this Sunday what basically do you expect from the members that say that they will join?

We are basically new to raiding. We are raiding ZG to build up our teamskills etc. How do raid leaders make sure that everyone listens and that no one dallies about? Are you's tough on your guild mates that just sit around do nothing or people that dont pull their weight?

What kind of *punishment* per se that you give if they dont listen to you?

Or maybe a wee simpler question: What do you expect the people of your raid to do? and if they dont do it what do you do then?

Thanks

Inno

Personal experience from starting raid leading, if you have trouble makers in the raid or people that refuse to listen and constantly muck about get tough if you have enough people!

My guilds first raid to MC back when the game was released i had about 3 members that refused to join TS and or pot up saying "this boss dropped nothing they wanted so they didn’t see the point" I quickly whispered a few others in the guild that wanted a raid spot and could be here ASAP and removed the troublesome 3 from the raid and put a week long raid suspension on 2 of them and kicked 1 from the guild. Everyone fell into line I find being a firm but fair raid leader is vital!

I’m not saying make examples of people just for this purpose but showing that people are not vital to the raids existence is a must, people need to prove they want to raid, it’s not an entitlement.

Also when you get onto DKP in raids -DKP points for say signing and not showing is a big must if that’s a problem your having and giving officers the ability to hand out -DKP penalties for people that are mucking around.

Oh and if you don't have enough people, recruit more! when we first started we done a huge recruitment guide we got much more then we needed and started the process of weeding out people that came to raids and didnt really have a clue what was needed of them.

First ZG and a new Pally DI'd the MT on the Bat Boss because he was near death, funniest thing ever but a proven point on how to weed out players that need to Learn 2 Play before they Learn 2 Raid.

That’s how we do it anyway :p

Thanks for that.

My guild leader has said that I can lead the guild in raids and that has made me happy  (Notice the cheesey grin)

Some of the things you mention on how to sort people out of not doing whats asked and leaving during a raid is very good and I might add that aswell to rules hehe

Thanks

Do be patient though, it takes a lot more practice to be a good raider than people realise, I've been raiding 18 months now and last night I managed to get locked out of Netherspites room with the other 9 inside. :S

Use ventrilo/teamspeak.

Also, make some mods mandatory for raiders, such as threatmeter and BigWigs. Similarly, make sure people bring consumables, for example one of our rules for a raiding rogue is to always have 10 healing pots at the start of a raid, granted we never use them all but it just shows preparation.

Another good rule is to make sure people know the tactics to a boss before getting there, trying to explain tactics over ventrilo/raid chat is a pain in the arse.

Bring bandages, buffs, consumables, repair, be on time, be on TS, have a mic, don't ninja afk, corpse run if rezzes can be avoided, say who to soulstone, create healthstones without being asked, tell who to buff whom.

Have KTM, decursive, CTRA, whatever boss mod

Haven't led a raid or even raided that much, but it think it's basic group dynamics stuff...

1) tell people what's expected of them (be online 15 mins before start, show when you signup etc)

2) outline rules on controversial things (loot mainly) and enforce them fairly

3) communicate clearly (markup things and make sure people understand each mark, ask if everyone knows upcoming fights, etc)

Overall, make sure that everyone knows that they need to work for the good of the group, not just themselves and that things hurt the group (afking a bunch, not showing, etc) might get them removed from the group.

In other words - it's about the group, not the individual. People who don't understand that should be kicked and not allowed back in unless they abide by that principle.
