hey im a jewel crafter and a miner both at level 275. jewel crafting isn't that great so i was planning on dropping it but keeping mining and going to engineering. would it be too hard? like going alllll the way back to elewin and starting from there to lakeshire do darkshrie and all the way up to 70 trying to get mats? i really need some of the things they make like the jumper cables in kara. or other raids. and some of the guns that they make. the only problem is that i hear that there are goblin engineers and gnomes. which make the jumper cables and which make the guns? just give me your advice plz. thanks

Goblin Jumper Cables -
Can be made and used by Goblin, Gnome and No Speilcist Enginners with enginering 165 (I fact you at 165 you are not given the option to go Goblin or Gnome by then)

Goblin Jumper Cables XL -
Can be used by both Goblin, Gnome and No Speilcist Enginners with engineering 265.
Can only be made by a Goblin Engineer with engineering 265.

(The key here is that they can be used by any engineer but only made by Goblin's so if you do Gnome engineering you need to find someone who is a Goblin Enginner to make you a set. I have seen a lot of people get confused at this point and think they have to be Goblin to use the Jumper Cables XL)

As for guns I haven't seen any gun that need Goblin or Gnome engeineering to make. In general Goblin seems to be for make big bombs, Gnome seems to be for funny little non bomb like things like the Death Ray and Mind Control (less experiance with Gnome engineering).

It might be useful to have a a look here.

Look up engineering on wowwiki.com. It gives you a complete breakdown of the specific recipes for goblin and gnome spec, which ones are BOP, and which ones require that spec to use.
I plan on getting the Death Ray and a few other 225-250 lvl recipes from Gnome spec for my paladin, then respeccing to goblin.
Pally's don't seem to have ranged attacks, plus they have a lot of health, so the Death ray would be a good choice for them.
