I'm a level 70 warlock, I have 375 herb and 375 alchemy with elixir mastery. I generally make money by flying through outlands, picking up terocone and felweed, then making the two most popular elixirs on my server (major agility, and mastery). As you know, prices fluctuate, some days agil pots go for 15-16g, some days 18 or 20 some 14 or 13. Masteries fluctuate as well.

My question is, is it worth it? As an elixir master, I get decent procs with elixirs at times, usually x2, and frequently at times. But is it worth it? As a warlock would it be far more worth it to go ahead and drop herbalism for tailoring, then make myself a frost/shadow weave set? I heard tailoring makes good gold too with the spell cloth and shadow cloth.

What wesje said. Also Frozen Shadoweave are good enough that you will be using them for a long long time.

I can totally relate to your problem.

Bout two weeks ago I was 375 herb/alch...I got some tier4 and epic'd out in Karazhan epics...but I too felt gimped for not having the tailored epic sets.

So, in order to get the gear with the most spell damage, i was 'practically forced' to drop alchemy for tailoring. I chose to drop alchy because I can still farm my herbs and just have a guildie make the pots for me, plus just selling herbs alone is a good gold earning profession.

I chose to go with tailoring for only one reason, getting the most +spell damage gear I can obtain...but it's sad that dps casters all over the place are dropping professions just to get this gear. It's not very fair to other professions.

In your situation, I would advise to keep herbalism...being able to farm the herbs can save yourself lots of gold and you can always just sell the raw herbs on the AH which sell just as well....plus you can always get a friend to make some pots for you...unless of course you have some pretty rare recipes that you don't want to lose.
But which ever profession you do decide to drop, it is probably worth picking up tailoring for it. The tailored gear is just too good to pass up and selling spellcloth/shadoweave can make some decent money too.

An assertion not backed up by the facts, of course. But then, most people who've read that epic thread know the answer to that already

ConfusedCaster, my advice would be to stick with what you have. Looking at some of the top Warlocks around the ones who do not have Frozen Shadowweave actually have very similar +Shadow damage.

Compare Yukfoo (http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kalecgos&n=yukfoo) to Raidboss (http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/#character-sheet.xml?r=Korgath&n=Raidboss). While Frozen Shadowweave is nice, the difference overall makes me think Raidboss is actually better geared. They're slightly different specs though (Affliction versus Demonology) and Raidboss doesn't have a pet out, so none of the Demonology tree +damage bonusses apply currently. (What is that 5% - 10% bonus? I don't recall, I've been in Affliction for so long)

Anyway - I'd stick to the Herbalism, especially if you are an infrequent / regular raider.

I'm in the same boat with my priest who is 370 alch/375 herb. Once I get to 375 Alch, I'm dropping herbalism and picking up tailoring for the PMC set. I'll try to get by with buying mats for alch and selling them on th AH. I think it's safer to drop herb since it's so easy to level. I don't want to lose my discovered recipes in Alch. Luckily my other toon is a BS/Miner, so that will help with the gold income.
