View Full Version : Levelling Blacksmithing from 360 to 375

As most BS-ers have, I am now at the 360 skill level in BS - Armoursmithing, and stuck for mats / skill points.

After trolling and reading all the info on levelling BSing the only way (do they all have the same source?) to go above 360 skill points is to make the Flamebane Gloves from Aldor rep (or the respective Scryer plan).

However, the mats for those (mainly the 4x Primal Fire & Water) are a pain in the anvil to get, or very costly to buy. On my server, that mat costs for the Gloves would be around 150g per pair.

So I decided to try getting to 365 skill another way.

Adamantite Rapiers.

It's only a green plan, but the mats are cheap (12x bars, only), and if you are a Miner, "free" to easily obtain. Well, easier tham farming mobs (water/fire motes), and faster to accumulate the ores which you would need anyway for the Gloves.

And they sell for 7g to the vendor, the Gloves only sell for 3.4g.

So, even if I am buying Adamantite off the AH, each Rapier would cost me about 15g to 20g in bars, and sell for 7g, giving me a cost of 8g to 13g per Rapier.

So, even at green, I can make 10 - 15 Rapiers, for the cost of ONE Flamebane Glove.

Therefore, at worst, I have a 1 in 10 chance of a skill point at green. Pretty good odds.

I figure this will get me to at least 365, when new plans become available from the Trainers, or if I'm lucky, a world drop...

I made 8 Rapiers last night, and got 2 skill points, now I'm at 362...on a roll !

Have I missed something in my logic?
Has anyone else tried this method with success / failure?
Any other ideas? Especially about what to try at 365?

Cheers,

i got lucky and managed to get plans for khorium gear and felsteel gear. it cost me a lot of time mining and gold in the AH but i leveled up to 375 just was a pain.

Revered with cenarion (spelling) gets you the plans for the adamantite sharpening stone that is also green at 360. cost to make it is 1 adamantite bar and 2 motes of earth. Less mats to make = less money per skill point.

go and run lots of dungeons. i got very lucky with felsteel helm and i was making the aldor flame res gear. it was a bit of hard work grinding mats but a hunter in my guild helped me grind. the last few points i needed to get cost m e a day going around mining and then i gave up and spent 300g in the auction house getting last of the mats i needed.

Are the felsteel 3/3 set plans armorsmith only?

No, they are all BoP from certain instance trash mobs. I know one drops from shadlow labs, another from auchenai crypts, and i think one drops from Tempest Keep somewhere.

I believe they are all 360-365 and higher.

Dont underestimate Felsteel, its expensive as well.

Nevermind. I just double checked and my post is wrong. Sorry

Get the plans for the Khoirum belt http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23608#M0z The drop rate is really not that bad. I got all settled in to make a ton of kills and it dropped on my second kill. That should get you to 370, then try and get one of the felsteel plans for the rest of the way.

In any case, going from 360-375 is not cheap, you either have to farm a lot of spend a lot of gold.

i too am at 360 (361 actually) and i grinded a whopping 8 mobs for the khorium belt in nagrand. they are lvl 65-67 mobs and it took less than 10 mins to get (although it could potentially take days i suppose).

after i get to 365 or 370 i'll probably grind out the other khorium plans since they require higher BS skill to make so i'm assuming that means they give you points longer with a lot cheaper mats than felsteel or flamebane stuff.

the last 15 point grind sucks. unless you have a ton of adamantite to burn, i wouldn't do the rapiers. i'd grind out the 4 primals required to make the khorium set.
