It's possible to play the game on a 56K modem, however patches will take days if not weeks.
Apart from the internet connection, that graphics card is cause for concern. It may be a six series, but it's weaker than a Geforce 4 MX. It's not made for 3D games at all and will only aggrivate lagging problems. A cheap 7600 GS will make an able replacement, as will a 7600 GT. The most important thing is it takes weight away from the motherboard and places it onto its own dedicated systems.

Cause for concern isn't necessarily a crippling problem. Just pointing out possible areas for improvement, if you have to survive on dial up it's best to only have one major slow down factor hindering you, rather than two.

I say give it a try with dialup. It may be difficult, but managable. I've seen people get by with it, but their most major worry is patches when they do come

I would test first, but you've still got the headache of the patches to download.
Actually i've got a Question: can you download the patches without the game and then install them later? I.e. if i were to download the patches onto a CD/DVD at work then take them home could I update WOW from this disc or does it have to be done online?

You can download the patches from standalone mirrors. However, there's a pretty messy combination to get these days usually, mess it up and you'll still have to be patching anyhow.
