I have leveled every class except for druid and priest to ten, 3 to 12, 3 to 20, and one to 30, but I really want a level 70 character, but I always end up regretting the race/class/way I styled the race. How can I stick with one toon all the way to 70?

If you are having a problem leveling a character to 70, then you don't want 70 that bad...even if you don't like all of them completely, pick the one you like hte MOST and stick with it! THEN when you are 70, go back, and make as many alts as you want. GL

That is why I make alts.....
I know my favorite is probably a gnome warlock, but I want to try another class after that.

You can't unless you stop worrying about the way your toon's hair looks.

I've done that too, made alts because "oooh i like that they can do that, i want to try it" but then i realized, i wouldn't get to 70 anytime soon, so i stuck with a hunter, and have been leveling that, when i get bored, i'll hop onto another toon and play it for a while, but my main is my hunter and most of my time goes towards her. Play the gnome warlock if you like it the best. And you know, it's still possible for you to get to 70 with all your alts that you create, it'll just take longer.

The AA Welcomes You
Simply put . . . pick one and stay with it.
People can give you ton's of suggestions but it all depends on you and your style and taste.
I say, pick a toon that you like the look of, like the racials of, and just create a great name that you'll like . . . make sure that if it's two words they go well together, as you will be called by most likely a shortened version of your name if it's more than one syllable. (I get called Drift . . . a guildie named StealthDog gets caled SD . . . . guildie named Revolta gets called Rev . . .etc etc )
And just get to it! And don't stop playing it . . . don't take a break till you're in your 50's . . . then level an alt a little for a day or so then get back to it again!
that's my 2 cents
Good Luck

You can't unless you stop worrying about the way your toon's hair looks.
My main level 30 gnome warlock's hair is not what I don't like about him--it's his beard. Poor collision detections makes it so that my beard will stick out of some hoods, such as the Voidheart/Gladiator hood (That's why I want a barber shop. :D )

I leveled my first character to 47 before I realized that the class wasn't for me. So then I started my 70 Hunter and leveled him to 60 before I made another alt. Part of it may have been the fact that I was completely new to MMO's and I wanted on focusing learning the one character but I like to think it had more to do with willpower. Since then I've created many alts but I was able to level my main without interruption because I really wanted to focus. If you set your mind to it you can do the same.

I'm an aesthete (or simply vain), so I've re-rolled characters level 20+ after having found out, that their complexion or hairstyle didn't suit my taste after all.
I suffered from "altzsheimers" too, 'til I found the perfect combination of race, gender, looks and name for each of my characters. When I can't put a finger on the race, I can fully enjoy the class.
It often takes several days, even weeks, of preparations before I roll a new, serious character (especially the naming part is difficult), but I'd rather waste that time and get it right, instead of hating my character at lvl 51.

So far I've leveled every class on every race to at least level 10, but right now I have one of each class to at least level 30, of which 4 or 5 are above level 40. (One 70, one 68, 56, 44, 40, and a bunch of 30's). I think you should stick to one, try to hit at least 60 (Hit Outland) and then work on others while working on your main in between.

you are the exact opposite of me. I wish we could combine somehow to one person.
I have 1 lvl 70 and I can't be motivated to make more alts , although I think many times I wish I had a mage alt or a warrior or a priest, or an alt with Profession X or Y.

I am not so, but my mate has TWO lvl 60 horde Shamans on the same server, first an orc, and then a Tauren, because he "didn't like the look of the Shoulder Armor on an Orc character." :ponder:
It gets worse, since he even gave them both 300 leatherworking. (one is lvl 70 now and they both have lvl 375 leatherworking now)
to make it complete.. he never plays them , only playing his lvl 70 Druid...
(and druid is close to shaman in terms of hybrid healer melee class,) you would think he would try a cloth caster or so for a change.. but no..... )

Look at my signature - we all go through that...well...many of us.
The good thing is..you can switch around, play the toon you fancy for a while, get the others a nice rest bonus and switch again.

I too suffer a terrible case of Altzheimer's. I've got one of every class on my PvP server including a 70, 64, 54, 42, 41, and 40. Sadly only the 42 lock was a free mount. Oh all the gold I've spent. The way that works for me is to play one character for a couple weeks, and then move to another when I get bored with the same patterns every day. This way, it stays interesting, and I always have a character with rested exp, and I have every profession but JC up to at least 230. Currently working on Engineering with my 54 hunter, but damn it's expensive.

I made my first alt ("made" = played it longer than the time required to run to the nearest inn) when I hit about level 60... I've not yet made my second alt, but I do have them ready (a paladin, priest and warrior all sitting in various inns with max rest time... at level one that should last me about 20 minutes I suspect).

I'm surprised one of my guildies hasn't posted about me here. LOL I'm ridiculous when it comes to alts. The only class I have not played is a Paladin. I love alts...they make the game interesting for me. My main was a warlock that I played to about 44 then I realized I wanted to be Horde and switched servers and started a hunter that I played to 49, hit BGs at 49 with him and realized...OMG I HATE THE PLAY STYLE...I don't know why I just did. So I switched to Shaman...I love my Shammy...But then I was like well I want to try and druid so I played that for a little while, then I wanted to test a rogue, played that a while, then I was like I want to melt some faces with a priest or a mage (played both) now I'm testing a warrior...like him to. But all the while I'm plugging away on my Shaman. Now most my alts aren't very high a level, you know about that point where leveling slows down so like 14ishy. Anyway...I'm addicited to alts...I have a problem...I can admit it...but I refuse to do anything about it :)

Suddenly I feel like I have a life
Normally I have a social life but the first year the game came out I was out for 8 months on disability and couldnt really go anywhere. In that time I leveled the mage, hunter and shaman.
The second year I got a new job which I was able to work from home and while my gf worked I used her computer to level and my pc to work at the same time.

The AA Welcomes You
"Hi, I'm Banesidhe, and I'm an Altoholic." "Hi Banesidhe!"
I started on Demonsoul with a Horde troll hunter, and quickly started making other alts/mules. It's a throwback to my D2 days....
Unfortunately, I also have the problem of wanting to try all the professions, so I started leveling them. I learned early on to get my money by selling enchanting mats on the AH, so that's where I got most/all of my money. By the time I got my mage to lvl 40, I had 700 gold, and I had paid for at least 3-4 bank slots for all 10 characters, plus most of the mats for leveling my professions.
I have a 39 hunter 300 Alch/255 herb, a lvl 27 Warrior 225 LW/200 Skin, Lvl 28 Rogue 155 Miner/225 BS, lvl 27 Warlock 225 Eng/140 Mine, lvl 40 Mage 300 Tailor/285 Enchant, lvl 22 Paladin 225 Eng/80 Mine, lvl 19 Shaman Mine/herb, lvl 14 druid Mine/Skin, lvl 21 Priest 200 JC/130 mine, and a Lvl 17 Tauren Hunter 150 Eng/80 Mine that will be the only character I'll play in BG.
But.....that wasn't enough. I wanted to try Ally, so I made an account on Daggerspine, and made all the character classes again. However, with the provision that 1 of their professions MUST be engineering for all characters. I'll have 2 Miners, 1 skinner, 1 herbalist, and the first 6 characters will be dual profession characters, so they'll just scout out locations of ore/herb for the gatherers.
I'm going to level them in 5 level jumps, so I got them to lvl 5-7 first, and have gotten 2 to about lvl 11 already. Most will start with Mining/skinning, so they'll have the mats ready for engineering when I switch over, probably about 10+. I like having the goggles at low levels, it's a nice +4 stam and spi bonus at least. And you normally can't get a helm that low.
I'm not going to pick up Jewelcrafting til about lvl 30+, so that'll be another miner/engineer for a while. Blacksmithing won't be picked up til about 15+, so that's another miner as well.
Actually, the last alt will serve as a Blacksmith/Enchanter for a bit, then I'll delete him and start him over. I only started him as a Darkmoon faire mule, to pick up Gromsblood/stacks of scrolls for cheap.
All characters will max fishing and cooking.

I'm PlayThemAll ... and I too am an Alt-o-holic.
I've been playing over a year, my main is still only L58 but I have umpteen alts ranging in level from 1-30 and countless others that I have deleted. I have Alliance, Horde, PvP, PvE, ... I've had just about every possible combination at one time or another.
I'm just excited as heck to be getting close to 60. Sounds weird but that was the cap when I started so to me its a big milestone.
I play for fun. I enjoy playing all my alts, trying different areas, builds, etc. If I was forced to pick only one I would have quit a long time ago. We all pay our monthly fee's so we should be able to enjoy the game as we wish. It doesn't bother me that I havent made it to L70 yet as long as I enjoy what I'm doing.

Is this talk about being addicted to alts or has it turned into, "Look how many high level characters I have"? Apparently there is a fine line between confessing and bragging.

I usually hit the wall around 45-ish with my alts, I have about 4 at that level, Lock, Shammy (main), Rogue, Warrior. A couple of mid-20's, hunter, druid, priest, etc. and a few in the 10's, 2nd Lock, mage.
All horde and every race but troll (they're too thin looking).
For some reason in the mid-40's the game to me stops being fun and becomes a chore. Probably a lack of instances (I hate Ulda and Mara) and a lack of zones to Q in. (Feleras is ok, Tanaris and Hinterlands make me cry).
No new mid-level zones FTL, atleast you can get to 20 in the ghostlands, where things are (somewhat) interesting.
I bought TBC when it came out and have yet to set foot in Outlands, even though I do have one lvl 60 priest (who is gathering dust).

we ran dm a couple of times last night with a high lvl mage (54) and I am a lvl 26 shadow priest. mage would get shield, run in, pull an insane number of mobs, I'd keep him shielded and healed. and he'd take them all out with his aoe spells. even though he had to drink after each battle of about an average of 10+ kills, it looked so cool that now I want to have a high lvl mage to go along with my lvl 40 warlock.
my biggest concern is that I wont have time to play the game in the future, with looking for a new job and what not, that I'll end up with about 4 lvl 40 characters, all fun to play, but none high enough to really melt faces with.
can't wait to ding 30 with priest and mind control some ally scum. last night a lvl 25 shammy tried to gank me while I was leveling.... took him down!!! first real pvp kill for me. hooray! pvp ftw, pve ftl!
For the Horde!

I am an alt-o-holic as well, it has taken me years to reach L66 where I am today with now my main blood elf hunter, before TBC, I made char after char, and they barley reached 40... then I got sick, and stupid me always delete the once I got sick of, like my L60 lock, that I regret... but still today, I do a few quest with my hunter, get bored and make an alt, level it till like 10 get bored and so on... I think as long as your having fun, alt making is fine I think. But for my self, I wont buy more game cards when I reach the end of this one I'm using, I wont have time for a long time any way, so keep making alts if you like it, and when some zones are boring, just try to finish it as quickly as possible so you can leave it or grind in a zone you like. There is always a solution to everything :D

Myself, I find alts to be a bit of a refresher from my main. They give you the opportunity to rest your main for that extra experience boost, you have the chance to experience the game through different eyes and learn different tactics.
So, while I don't quite have the menagerie of characters that some of our more senior members do, I have a few characters that I enjoy playing when different moods strike me. I'll always go back to my main though, she's just too much fun.

To me it's about diversity.
My main is a druid which, to me, is the most diverse class in the game. Still, he now hovers at L53 waiting for his next boost to (indeed) L54 .
Meanwhile I play my alts. I have put a full stop to making alts and now, when I need to "switch" I just play the one that closest matches what I wanna do.
This way it is easy to see which classes I like best:
1. Druid (off course)
2. Mage (L37)
3. Paladin/Warrior (both L26)
4. Warlock (L25)
5. Priest (L22)
6. Hunter (L20)
7. Shaman (L19)
....
