On three attempts we got him to:

10%
15%
30%

Then I called the raid due to what I thought was people being tired.

Of course we had problems with people getting 1 and 2 shotted when they were morphed and chased.

Hints? Tips? Tricks?

The moroes and maiden threads have helped us win those encounters, i'm hoping for the same here :D

you and your daily threads :P

anyway, for this encounter there is only one thing : lern to kite him. If you manage to, the encounter is a piece of cake. If you dont, it is hell :)

not realy helpful, i know, but there is nothing more to the encounter :)

ps : positioning can make the start of the kiting easier. Position the raid by the door where you came in and the wolf by the door where you will go out once you defeat him. So you have one lenght of the room time to start running.

hmm, i can't think of anything more. Get the kiting done properly and you win.

You have time to setup for this one because it doesn't start until you talk to the old lady.
Amp Magic everyone in the raid. He only does melee dps.
Put healers in the corners of the room and tank him in the middle.
Have all of your dps stand in 1 corner.
When you get the debuff run in a circle around the edge of the room. The healers have to be on the ball for this.

One of the big dangers is having your tank debuffed and 2 shotted. We usually have both tanks building aggro just incase.

Once someone gets turned into Red Riding Hood, start spamming heals on them. Chances are, people are going to get hit, and the only way they are not going to die is with massive heals. If you wait until they get hit, its too late. Also stack DPS consumables, make sure you have all Soul Stones, Battle Res's, and Shaman Self Res's up.

Positioning matters however I have yet to see anyone kill BBW without multiple deaths since the 2.1 patch.

We were waiting for enough healers to raid for so long most of our players have nearly all the gear from 5 mans and rep reward. A few heroic pieces here and there and we have two dps casters in full tailored gear both coming in at around +900/1000 spell damage unbuffed.

Raid buffed i'm at +1800 heal myself with 240mp5 inside the fsr and I still don't have a piece of kara gear yet...(maiden dropped the shard but I passed on it. Both of the other healers needed it more than I did.)

There's a trick to this encounter. If you get too far ahead, the wolf cuts corners to get to you, if you're only a bit ahead (safely out of melee range), he doesn't. If people can get the knack of this, it reduces deaths as they get hit and thus killed less.

Yeah, the corner cutting isn't fun.

I was morphed about 9 times and only died once. A lot of others however lasted only a few seconds.

and you actualy kill him whit this strategy ? cause if you do, you make your life ALOT harder than you have to.

have EVERYONE stand in the corner at the entrance door. Have the wolf at the exit door.

If you do tank him in the middle of the room, he has shorter ways to reach the little red hood. also, because he walks diagonaly trough the room, he has a better angle to catch someone just starting in the corner. He will be cutting the corners all the time, and that is exactly what you DONT want him to do.

This is what i mean :

The only trick I really know is have who ever is kiting him know when it's ok to begin cutting the corner. If you cut too soon, you'll be intercepted, if you cut too late, you'll be intercepted. This fight is pretty much all about kiting. Which is crappy for classes that really don't kite that much. Once everyone knows how to run around in a box, it becomes pretty basic after that. Grats on maiden though. You guys are making amazing progression :) I hope everyone is getting phat loots and gearing up crazy.

P.S. When can we be expecting a Oz or Romeo and Juliet thread? hehe :)

Something has changed about this encounter since the patch. We took Attumen, Morroes and Maiden down with out any deaths during those fights.

When we get to opera and see its the wolf we all think piece of cake since we have had him on farm for awhile. We tried 4 times to get him down with 3 attempts being under 10%. We had 2 new people with us but I dont think that was much of a factor.

We called it off after we got respawns since it was getting late. He seems to be fearing more often which makes it him much harder for the tank to control (no dwarf priest in our guild). Also he stuned one of our priests which we had never seen before.

Anyone else notice any changes in this encounter?

I had never tried the encounter before but yes he stuns.

We also downed moroes/maiden etc but failed 3 times on this guy. It seems we were able to get him to around the same mark as your group 10/15%

I think our positioning was just a bit off, and the fear is frequent. I try to keep ward up but with the cd it isn't always available.

I think we'll get him tonight with little difficulty, healers in the corners heroism earlier in the battle.

Hey, rg, if you have heroism, make sure you also have tremor totem up too, it helps a little with the people in that shammy's group..

oh great, noone listens to me ^^ look at the map, man, look at the map. Healers in one corner.

Anyone else notice any changes in this encounter?

yeah, it is so much easier than before. We killed him right when he went chasing the SECOND person. that's like what, less than a minute ?

The nerf patch surely was too nerfy.

What map?

the one i posted above ^^ look up :)

Yeah we use tremor for the fears for sure. That and FW help a lot.

We typically position the wolf by the entrance and the ranged dps/healers by the exit. The KEY THING about kiting him is to make sure you follow the edge of stage COMPLETELY around. DO NOT cut corners, just run around the edge of the stage until you are done being RRH. We have gotten the wolf fight three weeks in a row and have not wiped on him once. This tactic is tried and true, baby!

I agree I think that would work great.

Hope the mods don't frown on the double post, I would edit but it has been too long.

Big Bad Wolf to 10% on the first attempt, 1% on the second attempt and downed him on the third attempt.

Fear ward, and standing in the places shown on the map in this thread helped a lot. But it really comes down to one thing, kiting the mob. Until you have kited him a few times you will have trouble. When more people learn to kite hi m and live through it the fight becomes much easier. This is one fight that just must be experienced and practiced to be successful. Now, on to the Curator!!

First ever encounter we had him below 50% when Blizz decides it would be a good idea to boot us all from the server. Half of us got killed during the lag spike, the other half got killed when we logged back in as the event was still taking place. Do'ah!

We rez and go right back at him. Take him down easy. And again, for the umpteenth time, I don't get an epic ranged weapon. I'm ready to write off Attumen and BBW. Prince... You're my only hope!

yeah Toolio, my wife suffered from the lack of ranged weapon drops too... we had attuman on farm for 2+months before he dropped his damn crossbow. Of course then she went on vacation for 3 weeks and hasn't used it =]

All I can say about BBW is man I wish I was ranged... he turns around and one-shot my rogue.

Now of course while it did eventually lead to us wiping, it was sure damn funny watching our healer freak out and run right into the BBW. We were harping on everyone going clockwise around the stage... and she got confused and ran counter clock wise... right into the BBW.

We still get a chuckle out of it =]

First time i did it , i was little red riding hood 5 times in a row. Ill share my experience with it :))

Basicly position yourself at the entrydoor with ur main DPS group (ranged) , tanking the wolf on the other side of the frontstage , so the other door.

If he puts any melee to little red hiding hood, basicly run, heal thru it and pray for the best. Not much else u can do.

On ranged, keep about 5 yards between u and the wolf, while running to the house, down the far end and back to the meleegroup. Then a short run to rangeddps and it should be worn off. Just make sure u stay between 3-7 yards away or he will hit u / cut corners.

Heal the red riding hood thru it (spamheal, most ranged dont have alot of HP)

Out of 5 times i only died the last time cus i was still pissed off i got it the first 4 times :))

Guess he fancys drae female priests ;)

Melee dps, go stand with ranged DPS 5 seconds before the next LRHH.
That way you get a headstart on him.

We've done BBW a couple of times since the last patch, without deaths. Generally, the standard way we did it was to run clockwise around the outside of the stage (letting him get tangled in props etc). A priest bubbled LRR, and healers spammed heals on them speculatively. The LRR ran as fast as she could the instant the change happened, and all went well. As far as the rest of the fight went, any shammies around plopped down tremor totems to shorten the fear. It was pretty much without incident.

A great bit of advice the RL gave was "we run clockwise- but the most important thing is to run. Run first, think later, don't worry about running the wrong way".

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Hunters can Feign Death and stay there until the Red Riding Hood debuff leaves them, which will allow for more time to DPS without worrying about Red Riding Hood dying or someone else get Red Riding Hood'd.

Usually in a BBW fight, I can get 2/3 Feigns successful when I am turned into Red Riding Hood and the other 1 just kite him around the outside.

Also when you are kiting him, there are two things to look out for.

1) Props will block him if you run around the outside
2) If you get too far ahead, he'll shortcut right on top of you and once he does that 9 times out of 10 you're dead.

We didn't even need healers to heal Red Riding Hood once we figured out the tricks to kiting this guy.

It's a fun encounter, I loved it. :P

I got to fight this dude for the first time a few days ago and lack if kiting skills made us wipe all night. We're up to Aran and have gotten Romulo/Oz for 6-7 weeks in a row now and we take those two very easily, but this fight is giving us some headaches. We'll definately try that positioning though.

However, I was wondering about that Feign Death thing, nice to hear it still works. What about Vanish for our rogue? If 2/10 in the raid could skip hood running alltogether it would help very much I think.
