meta socket jewel question

Can someone tell me what the 'Requires at least...' part of a meta socket jewels description means?

For example here's the definition of a jewel...

Brutal Earthstorm Diamond
+3 Melee Damage & Chance to Stun Target
Requires at least 2 Red gems
Requires at least 2 Yellow gems
Requires at least 2 Blue gems "Only fits in a meta gem slot."
Item Level 70
Cost to make: 66 Gold 51 Silver
Auction: 127 Gold 18 Silver
Vendor value: 3 Gold
Source: Recipe

as i sdee it you need to have either 2 red 2yellow or 2 blue gems on your body for the meta socket to work

I thought that but decided there was a missing 'or' and that I therefore needed 6 gems with 2 of each.

No, you do need 2 of each colour.

Note, however, that gems that "fit a red or a yellow socket" count as *both* red *and* yellow gems.

So you could fulfill this requirement with only 3 gems. Or 2 epic gems that count as three colours...

metagems requirements means you need a combination of gems already in your hear.

however: combo gems (like orange = red+yellow) count as 2 colors.
so a requirement of 2 yellow + 2 red + 2 blue can be done with as few as 3 gems (green, orange, purple)
