Hi
Our guild is going to raid kara today...i am sort of newbie to this type of raid...can anyone tell me some basic ideas on how kara works?
I understand that kara reset very Tuesday. But i got 1 question suppose Person A raid with us on Wednesday......however on Thursdays he is not free.
Can we replace him with another members of our guild? It is possible?
Or once it is register with the 10 members, it can no longer be changed anymore.

you can bring in anyone that is not saved to a kara instance. so if someone goes you can bring someone in that has not done kara this reset.
And it works like that with every "saved" Instance. (Gruul, BWL, MC...)
When you kill a boss, all members present get saved with a socalled "raid ID". You can only take NEW people with you for that week who have NOT killed a boss in that instance in that week.

also... if someone who is saved to your raid ID pugs it with some other people & they kill something, that gets saved to your raid ID...
which sucks big when you group up again for the rest of kara, only to find out some 'tard pug'd it & everything has been cleared :x

there used to be a limit on how many people that you can exchange per ID. i know that for the old 40-man instances it was 60 people. havent read anything about this though since BC.

That would only happen if that person was the raid leader of the pug raid, but yeah it's possible.
To go into more detail, say on Wednesday you raid and kill a boss. All ten people in that raid get a raid ID 12345. Then on Thursday you want to go raid kara again with the same group except one person can't make it. You'll have nine people saved to raid ID 12345. As long as the tenth person you find to fill the empty slot doesn't have a raid ID from that week, they can fill the slot.

In case anyone cares, heroic instances are also like this. However they are on a day reset timer instead of a week. We did heroic seth the other day only to discover the shadow priest we pug'd was already saved and didn't know that you could only do it once a day. Which is good I suppose otherwise people would just farm heroic mech endlessly.

Not only possible, but very easy, and done routinely...
Sometimes, it happens unwittingly, in that the raider that is made lead doesn't realize what the 'taking over' guild is doing...Once they are in the saved instance, the 'leader' gives lead back to the real leader, and they move on, killing the remainder of the mobs....thus ruining any chance for the original guild to clear the instance themselves....
This happened in BWL alot...
