Not yet, but I'm expecting it to come down the line very very soon.

I have to think "wow" and "gamers" in the domain name will reduce the amount of traffic for sure.

Currently accessible for me--KNOCK ON WOOD!! Won't be surprised if the filters get to it soon though

If websense isn't blocking now, set your timers... it won't be long.

The move from not having 'gamers' in the name to having it is really going to effect people's abilities to access it from work?

Tough... er... boob.

I would assume that most blacklists have *game* in the wildcard setting of domain blocking (the ones I make do).

'www.incgamers.com' is already blocked at my office. The only reason the forum is working now is because of the third-level wow.incgamers.com. This was actually the case with the previous url, where forums.worldofwar.net worked fine but www.worldofwar.net was blocked. So maybe this url will continue to slip by undetected for whatever reason the old one did...

I can access it by google so far, but I'm sure it won't be long before the block program 'websense' or whatever it is called catches on.

Not blocked here yet and I can actually access the main site right now but it's very likely that Websense will catch on soon enough. Goodbye forum. It was fun while it lasted.

Yeah I expect Websense to catch this site very soon. Its been an uphill battle since I started working here. At first I could access Wowinsider then they blocked that. Then I went on to worldofraids that got blocked. Now the last forum I can visit will be no more... I guess I could work

If you guys wanted to try something so you can access it, here is what might work (it works for my dad at his work and I at mine). You just redirect the site to something else
Steps:
1. Go to freedomain.co.nr
2. Sign up for a free domain giving it a low secruity name like *your work*database.co.nr
3. Redirect it to the homepage's url
4. Make sure cloaking is turned on (otherwise it will still block it)

This works on the systems I have tried it on, including highschool computers, but there is no guarntee it can get past yours. Be sure to delete the history of that item and deleting cookies might not be too bad of an idea either. It says your suppose to put up an ad for the .co.nr site, but I have never lost my domain because of it.

Hope it works for those who try it

Be careful doing stuff like this at work. Its one thing to look at unblocked websites and another thing to circumvent to blocking tool employed by your company. You don't want to loose your job over WoW.

i might die of severe boredom at work if this site gets blocked :( then i will only have wow-europe site left.

Amusingly, the site was previously blocked completely at work. No longer the case. With a little luck, we'll have the servers problems sorted out completely within a few days, and I can then print out a few things for some more leisurely reading. As opposed to alt-tabbing as I sometimes do now.

That is some very good advice. Your company / school / whatever blocks sites for a pretty good reason. Circumventing their policy could very well be a quick trip to unemployment. It's much better to actually talk to your employer and request that the site be unblocked at certain times when you are on breaks / etc.

Ok today I was blocked from this site by websence. Hence, since thats about the only time i check and talk on forums, I will prob not on much. Not that anyone cares, but just letting you know that the blocking has started.

Websense is weird for me. I can get to this site and the main page. I cannot get to wow.com directly, but links from here to threads and the armory work fine. I can also get to the armory through google.

Blocked from work now, so I can only read the forums at home. Sadly, at home is where I spend time with my family and play WoW in the little free time I have left.

Is there any chance of changing the name so Websense doesn't block it? If so, I can see a heck of a lot less traffic coming here, cause it sure sounds like a lot of people visit it from work. I'm pretty sure the people that run this site would want the maximum number of visitors they can get. This doesn't make sense....

You'll have to add me to the growing list of blocked.

I'll try to post now and again, but looks like I won't be getting up to kcma's post count anytime soon now.

Happened to me in the middle of browsing on friday :( clicked on a link and suddenly the "Blocked" page popped up. Probably a good thing, I wasted almost half my day on these forums and always felt very guilty doing it even tho I still got my work done, not fair to my teammates. Anyway I'll be checking in much less frequently now, it's been fun.

Me too, after about a week websense is now blocking this site. No more wasting the taxpayers money...

I'm done now too, blocked at work. That was the only time I was able to read the forums. While I'm at home I spend time with my kids and play WoW so these forums are done for me...bummer.

I was blocked at work until someone told me about using proxy servers. Do a search on google for proxy server that allows anonymous surfing. The one I'm using is www.scoobidoo.net (OK but with annoying popups). You go onto the website and then there is a box for the website you want to look at. The games filter only sees scoobidoo.net (or whichever one you're using) - but you can see the website you want on screen. Its currently working ok for me.

With due time, your work's firewall/whatchamacallit will just pickup that you're using a proxy server and shut it down too.

Not to mention that viewing a website that hasn't been blocked isn't technically wrong, but avoiding their ability to detect the websites you are viewing is taken much more seriously.

I have perceived a slowdown on this forum since the domain was changed over. This may be just my perception and not fact but it seems there are a lot of people with considerable post counts who can no longer access this site from work.

Blocked now for me too. And since I don't usually have the time to come here regularly when I'm not at work, I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks to all that post here and also a big thanks to those that maintain and run this site as I've found this place to be immensely helpful and thoroughly enjoyable!

While my Post count is not super high, I have read every single thread here since December. During my slow times at work (which some days is ALL DAY lol ) I would go back a few days and read all teh posts to catch up.

My Employer uses Websense and it is now blocked for me. Like many others I spend my at home time actually playing or doing family/friend things. Work was my worldofwar.net time and now thats gone :' (

I will try to keep up if possible but I definitely will not be on as much as I was... Not good...

Admin/mods - is there any plans to change the name back, or should I delete this site from my favorites at work?

Tanitha
22-06-2007, 11:33 PM
Pallas, I'm not an admin, but I suspect it will not be changed back. The whole idea is to move the entire family of sites under the LoadedInc banner and it's been slowly happening for all the sites.

My best advice would be to talk to your network admins, try and organise a time that they would allow you to access the site like over your lunch / tea breaks, etc.

I apologize if this link isn't allowed (so please remove it if it's not) but I found a proxy site that Websense has not blocked yet. I'm at work and accessing the forum through http://opennetproxy.info. I'm sure they'll catch it eventually but, at least for now, it's good to go.

Like a few people have said allready, be very carefull when using a proxy to bypass websense as most companys have a policy of sacking people on the spot for using them.
