this bothers me a bit

I play a character and look forward to high lvl since I'll be able to do things that others possibly cant. So there is a fun aspect, but also knowing that you can do something, or excel in something, that others just arent good at. with a mage it's aoe, and I saw a high lvl mage in an instance take down well over 10, even 15, at once, and I was impressed.

so i rolled a mage to lvl 16, looking forward to blink and teleport at 20. now I find out that mages dont even have the best aoe skill anymore, its warlocks with seed of corruption (was this really a surprise? why not give warlocks infinite hp!). so even end game warlocks can better aoe than mages, making the mage completely useless.

I dont get why blizzard takes the point out of playing a class completely. lets all just reroll locks and overcrowd every server, so that blizzard will nerf them for good.

mages can still take on 10-15 mobs at a time, and 10 mobs at a time is max XP you can get...so whats the problem? how often do you get a chance to actually do that anyways?

warlocks may be powerful, but im sure there are plenty of rogues and hunters that would say otherwise...and plenty of warlocks that would cry about getting owned by some sneaky rogue in the bushes

Why worry about what other classes do? Have you seen the Youtube video of a mage soloing 40 mobs in ZG? I don't think you'll be seeing a Lock doing that. (if someone has I'd like to see the video)

If you like the mage play the mage. If you like the Lock play the Lock. Just play a class you like and play it well.

Personally, If you want AOE, I think you should stick with the mage.

Either way you'll still get pwned by a well played rogue or hunter so dont worry about it. :grin:

seed of corruption may output more dmg per cast, but its alot more complicated than mage aoe.

I suggest you stop being such a little girl and just stick with a class you like, ignoring who is better at this or that.

Warlocks SoC takes 1.5 second to cast...and I get about 3 of them off in a Kara AoE pack before the mobs start to really love me. By then I hope the mages have done their part in slowing / AoEing...because otherwise the healers have to save me :)

Start casting your oh so beloved seed of corruption.

see how far you get.

Bow at the mage who kills these 10 mobs whibout being touched even once.

Seed of corruption needs a root like frost nova to keep them off us while we cast.

We can only out dps a mage at Aoe when the mage is saving our ass.

I don't know why so many people think about aoe when it comes to mage. Honestly aoe is such a small part of the game, it's really more of an option than a necessity.

Combustion, trinket, flamestrike, blastwave, dragons breath, arcane explosion. Not even needed really but all that can be done in succession, so uh who has the better aoe? pst

Seed also has a longish cast time and has a cooldown, and can only be cast once on any character (though I admit it is fun to cast multiple Seeds in a group and watch them go) until it explodes.

Warlocks have always had the most mana efficient AOE in the game -- Hellfire -- though you need a good healer to go along with it. I didn't hear you complaining about that before.

I run with a mage in my usual Kara group and I don't see her using AOE that much. However, she's the queen of the huge crit. She, my husband (the second warlock) and me regularly vie for the top 3 on damage meters.

There's also these little matters of sheep, free water, food, group buffs.

If you think AOE is what defines a mage, then you have a lot of learning to do about your class. But you're only level 16 so I guess I can cut you some slack on that. :D

Last time I checked instances and raids are about the team. If all you are intrested in is your own epeen dps AOE I wouldnt want to group with you. Learn to play your class understand what your role is in a group setting and get over the selfish look at me DPS mindset.

Yeah, because never having to buy food or water, or being able to consistently sheep, or hell, even being able to kite elites are all completely useless traits.

But yeah, when my priest was level 16 I knew she was completely useless from the get go, because I'm one of those people who knows everything about everything and anything you say is wrong, so yeah.
