Ok, before I get flamed here, I tried going thru the forum and see if this had already been answered but had no luck (prolly op error), also I have very limited access at work, and this site is really the only one I can use.
I have a question about regular (not heroic) mech...
yes my guild is a bit behind the times... but we are a family oriented one, and just enjoy playing together... we are now finding ourselves wanting to run lvl 70 instances. Mech being the one we are having a problem with...

The robot boss... ugh... what is the key to this fight... arcane resist?... keeping him down at the bottom of the stairs?.. what about those constantly spinning bombs?... Im sure there is probably a simple way thru this guy, but 5 wipes this weekend was enough for us.
Again if this info is already out there on this forum I appologize for asking again.

1) Don't hit him when the dmg shields are up (red for melee, green for spells)
2) Avoid the bombs by standing back far enough.

You could tank him on the stairs, so he stays downstairs - that way the bombs won't reach you... but it should not really be needed. Neither is Arcane Resist really.

Ranged DSP helps, you can stand far enough away to avoid the bombs.

Also pay attention to the boss color (Turn on casting bars if you can)

When he turns red he is reflecting Melee Damage and Green he is reflecing spell damage, so you have to watch out. Hunters are good because their damage isn't reflected.

There is also a spot the tank can stand where he isn't hit be that many (or any) bombs. Kinda between the last box and the wall. (We used it on heroic and it worked great)

I've always done this, and it's so easy, I'm surprised it still works.

If you are melee, you can be really far away from his "targeting circle" and still hit him--plenty of room to move around to avoid the bombs. Ranged DPS just needs to stay at range and similarly make sure they avoid the bombs. Other than that, watch out for the damage shields and stop attacking when the one that will hurt you is up. I've always only tanked him on the floor where he starts, and have never had a problem.

There are several different methods that you can use. Like people said, make sure your melee stops hitting him when he turns red and that your spell casters stop when he turns green.

Only method that people haven't suggested that works fine too is slowly kiting him up the stairs. This lets the tank and melee avoid most of the bombs, but makes it a bit harder on the casters. I suggest this method if you have a lot of melee (and stay in front of him, not behind when doing this method, so you don't end up in all the bombs).

casters on stairs and tank melee down bottom of stairs you have lots of room to move him around and avoid his bombs.

LOL no need to be sorry, or equip your flame retardent underwear, this isnt the official forums

have your tank tank him with his back against the side wall to the stairs

x x
x R T B
x x
x x
x x

R= ranged (healers casters etc)
T = tank
B = boss.

apologies for the rough diagram

assume that he x's are the stairs, place your ranged dps and healers at the top of the stairs facing over the edge, and have your tank hold the boss here. the tank can strafe downwards and upwards avoiding the bombs, but you should be able to heal through it anyway.

when he changes color just watch for it, and stop that type of DPS for that color.

Its a little more complicated on heroic. but thats the jist of it.

heheh--heroic is a LOT more fun, and definitely easier. The best part is chasing people after the fight who have the opposite buff--and I guarantee I have more health than they do muaahahahah!

1- clear both sides of the start of instance
2- start with the boss at his spawn point
3- let the tank kite hit out of his spawn point, up the stairs and into the start of the instance (only hard part is a close choke point where you will be out of LOS if your healers arent carefull)
(4- if you dont have him down by the top of the stairs continue kiting him to the end and down the other set of stairs)

Ahh the wonders of the first boss of Mech. So many ways to kick his ass.

I actually think the most fun I've had on him was the one time I use Amgyn's technique. Clear the entire bottom floor and kite the bastard. You leave the bombs behind you.

The way I usually do it is the same as earindar, but the opposite set of stairs. The stairs on left side are not quite as steep and have less stuff around them. This way you only have to clear the left side of the instance, so you go faster.

So The tank stands about 2/3rd up the stairs at the edge. A hunter misdirects onto the tank and pulls the boss to him. All the dps stands behind the tank. The boss is huge, so he'll be attacking the tank on the stairs... but the bombs spawn at his feet. Since there is no path direct path for them to get onto the stairs, they blow up at his feet.

I used to do it the way where I tank him at the bottom of the stairs, but you're mean to your healers that way... they need to keep ontop of healing the tank because of a few bombs blow up together you're gonna wipe.

So when you walk into the instance, you clear the left side of the first room, walk up to the ramp to the top of the stairs. If you stand all the way at the right wall, you can pull the left side miniboss w/o aggroing the rest of the platform.

Second you clear the stairs and the bottom... including the path between the two sides. Kill the first boss like I said above... everyone walks into the big room where the first boss wonders around and you take the right side mini-boss there.

Oh and I highly suggest kill the last boss (Panthelon) before the 2nd (Necromancer)

Can you tell I got exalted with the Sha'tar by mostly mech alone? =]

silly question but why bother kiting him all over the place when you only need to move a few paces either side when the bombs get dropped.

On heroic this boss is great fun, 12K crits with fireball wtf!

No need to worry about sheilds, full nuke and move from on side of the corridor to the other depending if you have + or - charge. Getting 3 stacks of the same damage is insane :D

But as to the OP, using the stairs method is really good, does require a bit of kiting to begin with though and healer could be out of range briefly, but still easily doable.

No point any more - the 2nd boss won't leave her room.

Re griefing your own party - this reminds me of the "how many whelps can we get at once" games to play after killing Onyxia..... :-)

the elementals will still chase a sprinting rogue into panthelon's chambers, which makes killing her on heroic much easier.

Ah, nifty. But how to get them to follow the rogue, in particular?

Not as priceless as illustrating a point to a mage who keeps overnuking and declaring that he's a tank with misdirection and multishot. *innocent*

bhroam's answer is the one I've always used, and I'll try to describe it again in case that helps.

You clear down the left stairway and that side of the room. Now, on the stairway, on the right, is a fat railing you can stand on. You position your tank about 8 steps or so along this railing...other ranged move further up.

Then someone else goes and pulls bomb boss (capacitus right?) and runs fast to the tank...a hunter using misdirection is the best. Druids/rogues sprinting is good too. Why does this matter? You want Capacitus to aggro on tank by going directly to him, so he is standing on the floor "below" the ledge your tank is on...otherwise, he might follow the puller and be on the stairs and the tactic doesn't really work. The whole point is to have him standing below the tank so the bombs won't reach anyone (and that means the tank can't be either too high or too low along the railing either).

As a healer, healing thru the bombs is doable, but unpleasant. If you cannot manage the railing tactic (and it works like a charm once you get it), then I suggest constant kiting.

All this work why not simply do it the easy way.

Tank the boss inside that little dip in the room with the tank on the edge and ranged behind him. Bombs will float around in the dip and never come out. No need to worry about kiting or stairs or anything.

p.s. make sure he is directly in frt of you when you pull so that both feet are in the dip if he is half on and half off bombs will come out.

gmedina, could you describe where the dip in the room is? Is this where the pull of 4 (2 humanoids and 2 bomb demons) where the chest some times is? in the path between the 2 sides?

The dip is where the boss is for the most part. When you come down the stairs you kill the 3 bombers and 1 Driller to the right, and the 2 drillers and 1 humanoid to the left. The room is now clear to tank boss, if you are standing on the stairs facing the pink boxes where those previous 2 groups where you step fwd about 20 steps and look to your left, you will see that the boss is actually in a little depression in the floor. You have your tank stand on the edge of the depression, not to close or bombs hit him, and not to far or boss will half step out. About 1 step back from the rim, and then just have the tank hit him. When he is reflecting melee dmg just have the tank keep hitting normal attack only to keep building aggro, and go all out when not reflecting. Other than that will be easy as all the bombs will stay in the depression in the floor and he doesn't step out.

P.S. Make sure to watch aggro with this strategy b/c if one of the range yanks aggro boss will step out and the bombs come with him, if this happens my recomendation is to run out and start over.

Ok figured drawing might help. So the SSSS is the stairs, and the C area is the little depression in the floor. MMM is the pink boxs in frt of the stairs and the x are is the walls where the passage way btw the 2 starirs are. And ** are empty space since can't have white space in this forum. Hope this helps and good luck.
