About two or three weeks ago I thoroughly toasted my graphics card, so bad that it also partially toasted my motherboard and so I had a severely crippled system for web surfing and no system for WoW. I payed through the nose for a near top-of-the-line graphics card (8800gtx), a matching power supply, new motherboard another gig of ram and brought my pc home. :) After some initial problems with the monitor I'm now installing.

So... FYI, cuz the topic gets tossed around a lot by new members, this is the exact amount of time it takes me to install from scratch.

Starting time: 1:58am
Core CDs installed/beginning TBC: 2:27 (29 minutes)
TBC installed/beginning login to initiate patch installations: 2:40 (13 minutes -42m)
Patches installed and ready to login  : 3:14 (34 minutes)

Total time, 1 hour and 16 minutes! Not loggin on just yet though, first I have to install my add-ons.

Well, out of the ashes - bet it runs nice now!

I have my entire wow installation copied to a network drive (one of those 500Gb ones that plugs straight into the router). So if I need to do a rebuild, I can just drag WoW straight off the network drive and start playing straight away. Reminds me I should back up my mods folder.

Can you do that just by copy/pasting? I'd like to do that, it would save a lot of trouble anytime I have to reformat my pc. (I'm annoyed. Stuff i didn't think of, like all my macros, are gone)

Yes, WoW is one of those games that can be copied entirely from another HDD or comp. Did it when my second PC didn'd like one of the install disks and did it just now when my mainboard crashed. The C Drive needed a re-install, but WoW was on the D drive and still runs fine.

Welcome back, SLUG

As for my macros: I always type or copy them from other threads to a txt file. So if I have to do a re-install, I can just copy them back
