Ignore his spite.
Yeah, there are a lot of gold spamming ads, and Blizzard is trying to cut down on them, but if Blizzard catches you buying gold (and it is VERY easy for them to do) your account will be banned FOREVER with NO hope of ever getting it back.
Of course, the gold spammers know this but they don't care - they're trying to trick people who don't know into buying gold to make the spammers real money - if the buyer loses their account - oh well! the seller doesn't care.
MOST of the time, the gold sellers are scammers, anyway -
they take your credit card information, and ask for your account information - your account name and password - "because we need to go into your account to place the gold" which is a lie - if they wanted to send people gold, all they would have to do is send it via in-game mail by one of their own accounts - but here's the deal - a lot of people buy gold, then the following happens (and I've seen this reported hundreds of times):
1st: They never get the gold. The seller reports "they are currently experiencing a high volume of orders" and "will get it to you ASAP as it becomes available". Which of course, never happens.
2nd: They access your account, including your WOW member account, and get access to your credit card. Then you suddenly see unexplained charges on your credit card, become the victim of ID theft, all kinds of problems.
3rd: You sign onto your account and find that all your character's gear is missing - and all the gold you had --- yep, the gold sellers sold all your gear, took all your money, to pay some OTHER person their gold (or not)
Then you try to contact their "24/7 live customer service helpline or online live customer care" and find it is disconnected or never worked in the first place, or they merely tell you to wait for your gold, which never arrives.
it's a scam in the first place, and you risk your entire financial health by playing with these con-artists,
it's secondly against Blizzard's Terms of Service, (TOS) which results in you getting banned from playing WOW ever again.
It's just not worth it.
Look on this site for tips on how to use the AH,
use professions to generate income (don't listsen to the blowhards who claim to be wow zillionaires by AH alone, gathering professions help too), and don't go spend money on these con-artists nor for in-game "gold generating secrets" that scammers pitch.
Even if the gold sellers say you can pay via paypal, and they don't need your account information, etc - ie, it APPEARS safe - you'll never get your gold, and even if you do, you'll quickly be banned for good.,
Don't bother :)

Why is everyone mad at me and saying ignore his spite, /cry. I was just trying to protect the sanctuary of the forums because I thought he was a gold spammer. I said I was sorry.... (blubbers like a little school girl)

I think it was the
"you oblivious monkey" -- personal name calling against someone you didn't know who didn't realize they had committed a cardinal sin, and
"have fun looking for gold while you're kicked off the forums" --- implying a threat because they just didn't know, and finally,
"I was just tring to protect the sanctuary of the forums..." that's the moderators job, not ours. :)

If people dont know its eligel then its not easy, i play with other guys who dont know that its not allowed to buy gold, but they will know during the day:).
So its got nothing to do with underground wow site or something like that.
And yes i know that i should have read the rules, but we all know that a lot of people dont do that.
All i can say is i learned something today, and i apreciate that you guys told me rather hear it from here than getting my account closed for something i didnt even know were eligel
(sorry for the spelling my english isnt the best)

No problem, Michael - we were all there when we started. Have to learn somehow! :)
And by the way, yes, the gold-sellers make it very tempting (I mean, if they could be trusted, they can't - and if Blizzard didn't ban for it, which they do) to buy gold -- and getting it pitched in our face every day we play the game does make it difficult to ignore at times!
Get the add-on spam me not or spamblocker - that way you won't have to see it all the time :)

Warning, though - make sure you don't click on the banner ads on the sites that offer these - even curse-gaming.com and whatever the others are, they are notoriously hacked -
also, after downloading the file, have your anti-virus/security programs check the file before unzipping/installing it. Can't be too careful.

Pardon me for being a nob, but I wouldnt say that having a lvl 40 character constituted being "new to the game" :ponder:
I admit, that theres a lot I still dont know about the game but for me only having one char at lvl 55 thats usually just knowledge of stuff thats above me in the game.
I am sure that by the time I was even lvl 10 I had read enough about WoW in the manual or on line or by listening to players in game to know that gold selling was not permitted.
Sorry mate it doesnt wash with me. Youre lvl 40. Thats over half way to end game. Pre B.C you'd only be 20 lvl's from end game. Being essentially over half way through the game you ought to know one of the most commonly known facts of the game.

So what is his agenda then, Mr. Super Paranoia?
None. If he didn't do guilds, nor forums like these,
etc he may honestly have not known.
I still run into people who are 40th level plus who don't know basics
like how to run with a group in an instance, etc.
It's totally possible. As far as it doesn't wash with you,
what kind of answer are you expecting?
you're only fishing for conflict.
Hey, for months of playing this game (and being at 40th or so level) I had heard it was only TOS to SELL gold, not BUY it. I heard all kinds of rumors.
I wouldn't buy gold even if it wasn't a TOS - we all know those sellers are fruads/scammers - but I didn't know it was officially TOS violating to buy gold, only if you were caught selling it.
I don't know about you, but I sure didn't read the 10 pages of fine print text before clicking "I agree" and starting the game - I read about two sentences, blah blah blah yeah okay clicked agree and started my game!
which auctioneer would you recomend, theres a lot of different ones

I received mine from auctioneeraddon.com; I do not know if it is still active, but that's where I went.
If you go to a search engine, type in wow add ons or wow mods,
you'll get curse-gaming.com or some others, I think it's ua.mods something, those are the two I hear about most

Michael, you might want to try to find the stories about Blizzard suing one of the larger gold seller companies, it's hidden in the news section.
Due to the bad start of this thread, I'll lock it down. Feel free to continue in a new thread, but - just to be on the safe side here... Take a minute of your time and read through both our rules and Blizzard's.
