This isn't even a question thread. More of just a sadness thread, but I'll try to fit something that creates discussion in here somewhere. First things first. I have a Male Gnome Rogue, lvl 48. I made him a kind of a joke, and he's a funny lil' guy, but lately, I've gotten tired of looking at him. I really really wish he was a Human or even a Night Elf. No, I don't want to get a model change mod, I want everyone to see him as one as well, so I thought "hey, they can do everything else, maybe Blizzard can change him into a shmexy Human rogue". Nope, can't happen  I don't care if she's nekkid with no gold, I just don't want to re-level. q_q /sad cry all that jazz
Anyone else ever felt that they wanted to change their character's race after awhile?

Yes, I've had those doubts occasionally. I wanted to change my Human Warlock into a Blood Elf a while ago. But, the whole re-rolling process was fun and I found a whole new world in the Horde lands.
Seeing Ogrimmar in it's raw glory for the first time is awesome. And the fascination that I now have for the Abomination guardians of the Undercity, I just want to play with their scar tissue all day long.
So, I resigned myself to it and enjoyed the whole process all over again. It gave me a chance to correct many of the mistakes I'd made the first time around. And still there are days when I wonder what Tash'd have been like as an Undead Warlock.

Ha, have you ever had the fun of being a Gnome? Horde pick on you, and go out of their way to gank you... just because you're you. Sometimes it's funny, but when I'm really serious about leveling, it angers the hell out of me :(

See, my solution is simple. I have one character for every race, and evenly divided the genders between them.

Yes I also know the feeling.
Before TBC I played humans (I always play elves but hate the wow Nelf look, had one lvl 60 human and a handful of lvl 23-49 chars) and after TBC was released I decided to start playing BEs (like a LOT of other people).
While I do understand that changing race (and faction) would cause certain problems, I must say it hurts to see my useless humans (which I now only use to farm some stuff or make stuff for my Belfs) in the character list.

Yeah, I feel like I've spent too much time on this character to turn back now. I've been through a lot with my lil' Gnome.
From my first purple item to my first experience with a bad tank...or healer... I can't remember which he was, but he was horrid at both.

Yes - they / we are. Very true. In the case of gnomes, it's rather funny.
I love it when people pick on my gnome mage, with my rather obsolete (and I hear no longer allowed) mod that prevents my gear from being inspected and my races is always shown at 40, bwahahahaha
(and then I subsequently kick the you-know-what out of them and they're like wtf?!??!??!)
That's what they get for bein' racists and pickin' on the little 'defenseless' gnome!

I wouldn't be upset over that - with a moderately high level character you have now, just reroll what you DO want, and twink it out with your current character...give it a bunch of gold (even 10-20 is a lot at 1st level) make/craft/buy some level 5-ish items for him/her, and then get going.
It'll be faster because a) you already know how to play/level, b) you've got extra gold, items, gear that you wouldn't already have, and c) you're playing what you want to be/have.
I've got a whole lot of alts, many on different servers. I may only play the others for a few minutes at a time, but when i'm in the wow-mood but not in a hunter/warlock mood, I'll use one of the alts.

You could buy a load of Savory Deviate Delights, et voila! Human Rogue (or pirate but you can remove that and try again). Downside is reapplying it every 60 minutes or when you die but it's as good as you can get.

Never really had that issue. Of the chars I've spent some time on is a dwarf rogue, a dwarf priest, a ne druid, a gnome mage and drae shammy. I do like little people and really only use other races when I don't have a choice. Ref. druid and shammy.

I made a gnome warrior once, also as a joke, but it wasn't so much of a joke by the time she went to Westfall and had trouble seeing over tall weeds. I literally got lost in wheat fields and couldn't see where the mechanicals were. I'm afraid I lost interest in her pretty rapidly after that. But she was only level 14 or so, so that was an easy re-roll.

That is an awesome idea, but where do you find that Savory Delight?
To avoid the problem with the looks, I have spend probably an hour on the character creation screen, figuring out what I wanted to be. On Alliance side, I feel all the males look awful..apart from the dwarves, that is where the women are ugly
Horde are all quiet menacing, even the Bloodelves..but really it is the male BE model that I cannot stand. So to get the best from both worlds I rolled a female Draenei.
How long did it take you to lv 48? I am only level 8, but that was really, really fast and I am so proudly looking at the first 2 gold in my bags :cloud9:

I re-rolled at 35 to change my race, at 21 to change my gender, and 37 to change my hair
so I know what you are talking about :).
Follow ascendedavatars advice, and re-roll before its too late.

My warrior is human. Time to time I created some other chars, the only other thing that I might be happy with was an orc warrior but since I am long time alliance and have lots of in game friends, and 2 exguilds ont he server, I didnt consider rerolling.
Until last week, when server was down, I made a dranei warrior on another server just for kicks.
Bigger, meaner face, darker and more fierce...and a much better racial ability. I really wish it was possible to switch the race now. I'm too lazy to level a dranei warrior, as it doesnt end with leveling, it only starts with it. But I can twink it for lvl 39 or 49 BG's...dunno...nah...<continues farming mats for nite's raid>

Yeah, there's definitely some race/sex combos that I just can't stand, and sometimes even class makes a difference. For instance, male humans? No go! Same with Night-elf males, dwarf females, trolls, and female orcs. Gnomes, Tauren, Forsaken, and Draenai are all ok in my book, although I could never play a female melee Draenai--too much grunting!
I recently started a new gnome rogue though that I'm going to twink out for the 30-39 bracket pvp. He has that scary looking smile, a wicked comb-over hairdo, and his name is Kreepy. I'm gonna have a lot of fun with that one!

 Maybe. Even so, I have an Undead Warlock and an Orc Warlock that are waiting for Tash to hit 70 so they can get some play time. Eventually I'll have 3 beautiful Warlocks all at 70 in three different specs. It will be beautiful.

I know the feeling all too well. Back when I had my priest as my main I made a gnome rogue whom I had the intention of using her as a way to get a break from my priest and help keep my priest's cash supply up. Played her for 39 levels, and now I don't want to play her anymore. I just don't like playing gnomes (how I managed to get 39 levels before realizing this bewilders me). So I re-rolled another Nelf rogue (like everyone else) and have started leveling her. I think the thing I hate most about the leveling process is that it feels like 1-20 are sooooo boring and slow.

Like Ithilkir said, you could buy a load of Savory Deviate Delights, or fish them and cook them up yourself. You can catch them in all the pools in Barrens now, not just in WC. And the recipe drops off the low level critters out there too.
I have a gnome warlock but I hate trying to see over the weeds and bushes all the time, so I keep my pack well stocked with deviate delight. My guildmate (human priest) who I sometimes group with for quests likes it better when I'm "disguised" in the ninja costume anyway, so she doesn't have to worry about stepping on me.
It's good for laughs too. One night the 2 of us were questing and someone asked if they could join us to get help on a particular quest. I'm standing there in the ninja costume, but right next to my big blue how-can-you-miss-him VOIDWALKER, and I asked the new guy how he wanted to handle this group of mobs.
He started out with...."Well, you sap the one on the left..."
