Can you move the install to a new drive in you system without reinstalling wow?
I am not sure but I belive you can't but I had to ask. My buddy just got a new drive and put it in his system as E: all his other things are installed on D: and he is out of room and needed to move some stuff if possible.. Trying to find things to move that won't have to be reinstalled.

If you move the WoW folder and all of its contents in one peice, yes.

sorry the thread necromancy, but this thread showed up in the search (gosh - do people really use that ? :-)) and this looks to be the right place.
Anyway, for various "historical reasons", I have WoW on drive K. I copied all the stuff over to drive D and the updater complained that it couldn't find the files to patch, listing drive K as the ones it couldn't find. Ended up leaving in where it was.
I want to install WoW on another computer for someone else and would like to copy over my complete installation. I have some reservations that the updates won't work on the new pc. Anyone else had this? And did you find anywhere to edit the path?
Thanks

It should work fine, I've done it before. Try running the patches from within the WoW folder. At worst you'll just need to edit one registry key to the new path but I've never found this to be required.

ok, thanks - I'll give it a go next week and see how it goes. At work atm, so can't provide the exact error right now.
Wish me luck :-)

The reason the updater was looking for the original location is because the registry entry points to that location. As Tunga said you can edit the location or if you're putting it onto a new workstation the first time you run it it will put the entry into the registry.
