Wow gets me confuddled

I recently downloaded world of warcraft from www.worldofwarcraft.com and set myself up on a 10 day guest pass. However I plan on upgrading to a full account.

My problem is that this plays on the US servers. If I buy the burning crusade expansion, can I create an account on www.wow-europe.com using the burning crusade auth code, while upgrading the downloaded version.

Quite complicated, But all help Is appreciated.

It could save me 15 to 30 quid if i can do this, So thankies.

In short:

Can I buy the Burning crusade expansion and play on the EU servers , even though I have downloaded a US version of WoW with no auth code?

I believe the following statements to be true:

1. You can change the actual game client to point to a different realm list.
2. You cannot change the account to point to a different territory.
3. Burning Crusade is an expansion that is added to an existing account.
4. You cannot play the game with only The Burning Crusade.

So, if my understanding is correct you would need to:

1. Create a European Account - I would recommend just downloading a European trial and starting with that. Then upgrade it to a full account and join the fun.
2. Upgrade that account to Burning Crusade by buying the expansion as you suggested.
