Half useless Combat Log

So I'm actually starting to run instances now and I'd really like to be able to track my damage totals and dps compared to everyone else. I installed damage meters for this purpose. Only one problem: it doesn't track anyone else. In my combat log I have everything turned on to see other players damage etc etc but I NEVER see anyone else on there. It's just me and my pet. It tracks my numbers alright. Every so often other people will show up on there, usually people I know are running damagemeters too.

Why in the world can't I see anyone else? It's really annoying.

I use SW-Stats, which took a bit of setting up. Infact it took me about 40 minutes to set up in a basic style and another 4-5 instance runs for me to tweak it nicely.

I imagine Damage Meters is the same.

I suggest you ask in in /g if anyone else uses and hot they set theirs up. I have talked abut 4 people though SW_S set up in my guild.

If you can't get DM set up the way you want try SW_Stats. Althernatively there is an Ace2 combat logger in Beta. http://www.wowace.com/wiki/Violation

I'll try out both of those out and see if they work. Is it normal to not see anyone else in your combat log? In the options I have party hits, misses etc turned on but I never see anyone on there.

It depends how you have your combat logging set up. Mine is set only to show myself & pet, Party and raid - incoming and outgoing damage from spells and effects etc.

It doesn't show 'friendly' ie anyone from your faction you might be questing/farming in your vicinity.

That's how mine is set up too, but I don't actually see any one other then myself and my pet. No messages from my party or raid show up, even if I'm standing right next to them.

Are you running any combat log mods? Simple Combat Log or something? If you do, have a look at the settings for that addon. When I installed SCL I had no messages because you need to setup "messages" or load a premade profile.

If that is not the case, try deleting your WTF folder, though that will reset all addons.. Could ofcourse backup everything you can't stand losing the data for :-)

That was it. I should have checked it but I assumed it defaulted to all on. Silly me! Thanks for the help.

I was thinking along the lines of 'your a hunter, get closer to the group'. Thankfully the situation is resolved preventing me from looking silly :grin:.
