I honeymooned in the maldives. The missus and I stayed for two weeks on a tiny dot of an island in the middle of the indian ocean. It was a resort island which is obviously geared towards tourists, but we stayed up past the other residents and spent alot of time with the staff there.

Every night we sat in the sundown bar. A small bar that is built over a shallow lagoon off of the side of the island. There is no place on earth more relaxing than that bar. I remember thinking that the staff there, despite their hard working days, were the luckiest people alive.

We just sat and watched the sea roll by in its gentle manner and drank beers or cocktails whilst chilled music played in the background. I cannot hear otis reading's 'dock of the bay' with out stopping and casting my mind back to that time and that place.

I work very hard, so I love to chill out when i can, and to me this was the ultimiate unwind.

So where and when was your favourite place? what is that memory that you have that is so special to you that you could picture every little detail in a second and will never forget it?.

That sounds wonderful!

Mine is at a cottage we always go to in the summer...it's in the middle of the woods on a lake surrounded by trees. Best place to remember...laying out on the dock, sweltering from the sun, with my feet dangling in the refreshingly cool lake water. the smell of coconut sun oil mixed with the scent of a true fireplace fire. Sipping on a refreshing Sleeman Honey Brown Ale, reading a good book, and listing to the water lapping against the dock, the lotus buzzing and the loons calling....it's amazing...it's my zen place

the beach...anytime anywhere...probably a week i spent in cocoa tho....waves every day at least 3ft...wake up surf, come back in for lunch and 6 or 7 margaritas or daiquiris, head back out until the buzz is gone, come back in, have 4 or 5 long islands, go back out surfing until dinner, and eat as much protein and carbs as you can so the next day you can do it again. end of the week i couldnt even paddle anymore, and i had the worst hangover from drinking everyday from noon until 3am...waking up drunk, your buzz wears off by lunch and you get it right back. it was one of the best trips ever.

definately with my uncle sailing in the guld of mexico. used to go down there every summer for bout 8 weeks or so. i remember one summer when he got a new 43ft him, my bro and myself went out for a week or so and had a blast. nothing to do and nowhere to be just open water. and it always amazed me how u could be where you couldn't see land at all and run up on a sand bar and jump off the boat and just stand out in the middle of the water. we would frequently drag a line and my bro and i jump off and try to swim to it real quickly and drag behind the boat. one time i remember all 3 of us doing it and i just think back to how cool of an uncle he was, while maybe careless, but i remember once all 3 of us dragging behind and no one on the boat lol. man he was crazy. he is gone though with his whole crew. last we all heard of him was his mayday. i just hope they weren't all dragging behind their boat lol.

My heaven, I don't think I've been there yet. It's not the places I go but the people I spend it with.

My wife and I took a 2 week trip to Hawaii in October of 2000. We got married while we were there. I remember driving around the islands and taking in all the fantastic scenery and beautiful landscapes. At night we would sit at the pool bar at the hotel drinking like fools until they made us leave. It was the best time i've ever had in my life. It's sad to think of it now though because my wife filed for divorce two weeks ago. I'm hurting. Sorry for the downside

I went to Hawaii on my way back from Asia to US and I loved it. The beach, the fruits, the food, the people, the weather, the atmosphere and the shopping mall were all good. It was an unforgettable experience.

I am very sorry for your current situation and I hope Warcraft is not part of the reasons you got into divorce. But, look at the bright side - you are single again. I am married with two kids. I can't deny that several times I wish I were still single and free...

Cheers.

WoW had nothing to do with it. I guess it's a typical situation. She found someone new and wants to leave me now. Althought during my marriage I frequently thought about being single and free, now that it is upon me, I hate it. Very lonely feeling. She is taking my kids away and that hurts real bad.
Anyway back on topic. Hawaii is a very beautiful place. When I was in the U.S. Navy I was there 2 times and then we went there for our marriage and honeymoon. It was great. I would love to go back. That was one of the most peaceful and beautiful places i've ever been in my life.

On the first piccy the sundown bar is at the end of the jetty in the bottom left of the image. We used to snorkel out into the lagoon and climb up the steps at then end for a drink before snorkelling back to the island... Ahhhh.... Dreams of being back there..... :cloud9:
