View Full Version : Disenchanting for greater eternal essences

Hey,
Just wondering what people usually find best to mass-disenchant to build up supplies of greater eternal essence's and maybe illusion dust.

Usually I would craft 'Wicked Leather headbands'. The materials needed for these usually aren't too hard to get, 12xrugged leather being the only non-vendor item needed.
I find the d/e drop rate of essences and dusts pretty good especially since most of the time rugged leather isn't very expensive.

In the last few weeks there has been little or no leather available in the Ah and I was just wondering of any other leather/tailoring items that work out as efficient ways to get these greater eternal essence and/or illusion dusts.

Thanks

Level 56 - 59 greens is what I use. I can spend up to 4g to get them as the resulting mats sell for much much more than that.

Best chance to get essences is from disenchanting weapons (close to 75-80% to get an essence). For greater eternal you need to dis level 51-60 greens (not Outland drops! These have a too high item level, and will as such disenchant into planar essences instead). You can also disenchant level 46-50 green weapons for lesser eternals.

Rule of thumb:
Need dust -> dis armor
Need essence -> dis weapons

Minor sidenote there, MacBlimp.

Armour tends to be half the value of Weapons at least. So it might well be profitable to take armour despite lower chances.

Cheers guys for the info.
Just wondering though is there any craftable tailoring items that can be disenchanted to give a reliable drop of these dusts/essences.

I dont get to check the AH too often and when i do most of the gear ye mentioned is overpriced / bought out.

The dust/essences are very, very pricey in the Ah, probably because of the amout of twinks on my server - lots. Everday I am doing enchants for them.

The 'wicked leather headband' only requires a few pieces of leather and nothing else that cant be vendor bought so its an easy, cheap and fast way of getting all the mats i mentioned.
Surely there must be a tailoring recipe that can be used for mass disenchanting? Preferably one that doesn't include rare things like spider silk etc :p

thanks :D

When I need to stock up on GEE or ID I buy green items in the 56 - 59 range which I know are Azeroth drops. I pay up to 4g each and make enough to sell some so that mine are free!

the one that I know of (and that works for my lock tailor) is runecloth items: it's either headband or sash (waist) that disenchants to greater eternal essence approximately 25% of the time or thereabouts.

However, she hasn't done this for awhile since she is trying to get exalted with SW and is more than 1/2 way there

That used to be the case, however it is now 51-55 for the best chance as 56 - 59 could have been dropped in outland and would therefore DE to lesser planar essence or arcane dust instead.

Easily avoided. A simple addon that tells you the item level will prevent this. The outland greens that will DE to the other items will have an item level of 81 or higher. The old world greens that will DE to the GEE will have an item level of 65 at most.

There's also addons that will directly tell you what an item is likely to disenchant to. Enchantrix is one of them, though currently back in Alpha because it's having problems coping with the outland stuff. Then there's gfw's disenchant predictor.

I was fully aware of this, however I cannot recall when I last seen a lvl 56-59 green with an ILVL less than 81, last night there were 136 auctions in armor with none and 78 in weapons again none less than 81.

Not surprised that the majority of them are outlands, since that's where most of the people are at that level. Still, I went over the AH on my server, and had no problems finding old world greens that were the right level. Maybe other enchanters are just beating you to them?

from what I remember (I have the addon Enchantrix which helps questions like this a ton cause it will tell you the %chance of disenchant and what that will be) runecloth items - I think it's either headbands or belts IIRC.
