chat box thing

for some reason thisafternoon when i logged onto WoW go to say hi to guild but my chatbox thing (where the text appears after typing not when your still typing) isnt working eg. i cant type /1 to get onto general chat and i was wondering what the problem could be and if anyone has a solution
